논문지도과정에서 지도교수와 다방면으로 트러블이 심합니다. 인문계통입니다. * 제 논문주제가 A분야이라면, (엄밀하게 따지면 국내에서 이 주제에 대한 연구자가 1명밖에 없고, 학위논문도 없는 상황입니다. 근접한 연구자는 2~3명 정도 됩니다.) 지도교수의 전공은 B분야입니다. 그런데 지도교수가 논문지도과정에서 논지전개에서 무조건 B분야적 사고방식을 강요하고, 기존 A관련 연구자 2~3명의 논지가 모두 부정되었습니다. 그리고 자신의 방법론에 따른(+자신의 박사논문, 학술지게재논문 등의 내용을 인용한) 챕터를 무조건 하나 만들어야 한다는 명령을 하달받아(;;) 처음 작성한 개요를 갈아엎고 개요를 새롭게 작성하였는데, 처음 구상한 개요는 1. A분야의 변화 2. (1장에 따른) A분야 내부 집단 a1의 변화 3. (2장에 따른) A분야 내부 집단 a2의 변화 였는데, 1. B분야의 변화 2. B에 따른 a1의 변화 3. ~a2의 변화 이런 식으로 바뀐 상황입니다. 문제는 저렇게 쓰고는 있는데, 제가 봤을 때는 전혀 관련없는 B와 a1~2 사이의 인과관계를 억지로 만들어내려다보니까 글 전체가 다 꼬여가는 느낌을 받습니다. 주변에서 논문을 읽어본 선후배들도 B를 이야기하고 b1, b2가 나오는 게 아니라, 갑자기 a1, a2가 나오니 핀트가 맞지 않는다는 느낌이 든다. 논지전개가 너무 무리하다, 근거가 빈약하다, 처음 글보다 너의 색깔이 점점 옅어져 가는 것 같다, 등등의 (절절하게 공감하는) 피드백을 수차례 받았고 우회적으로 그런 피드백들을 지도교수에게 어필했습니다만 지도교수가 모두 알못으로 취급해버리는 난감한 상황입니다. 지도교수의 논리를 받아들여서 그 결과 선행연구와는 색다른 시각의 연구가 탄생한다면 모르겠는데, 아무리 생각해도 지금 내가 제대로 된 논문을 쓰고 있는가, 연구를 하고 있는가에 대해 스스로 납득이 되지 않습니다. * 논문지도 방식이 매우 강압적입니다. 공공연하게 "학위논문은 자기 생각으로 쓰는 것이 아니라, 지도교수의 생각으로 쓰는 것이다"라고 말하거나, 불러주는 or 써주는 대로 그대로 삽입하라는 식의 지도가 빈번합니다. 덧붙여서, 왜 교수 자신이 그런 논지를 전개하는지, 왜 그렇게 논문을 작성해야 하는지에 대해 근거나 이유를 말해주지 않습니다. (...) 그냥 "지금 써 준 대로 보충하고 해서 내일 들고와." 이런 식입니다. * 논문과 상관없는, 쓸데없는 지적이 심합니다. 논문지도시간은 '아주 짧은 (위에서 말한) 받아쓰기 시간' + '그 외 쓸데없는 이야기 시간'으로 구성되는데요. '그 외 쓸데없는 이야기 시간'은 가정환경을 물어본다거나, 교수/대학원생(심지어 저와 같은 분과에 있는 본인의 지도학생을 포함한)에 대한 전방위적 뒷담화, 소문캐기(ex. 너 OOO 교수 or OOO 학생에 대해서 안 좋은 소문 들은 것 없냐, 니 후배 OOO 요새 태도가 별로더라 관리 좀 해라) 쓸데없는 지적(ex. 너 숨쉬는 소리 들어보니 호흡법이 이상하다 등등) 인생 강의(ex. 라떼는 말이야~ / 너는 내가 가만 보니까 ~한 게 별로구나, 내 눈앞에 둬야겠으니 내 연구실에 10시간씩 있거라(...) 등 ) 이런 잡담으로 구성됩니다.... 석사과정일 때는 지도교수가 철저하게 방임주의를 천명하였고(...) 학생 여러 명이 듣는 수업시간에는 또 활발하게 토론을 하자는 주의를 내세웠던지라 전혀 이런 낌새를 느끼지 못하고 있었습니다. 그런데 수료 후 본격적으로 1:1 논문지도가 시작되니 지도교수가 본색을 드러낸 듯한 느낌이 듭니다. 제가 지금 박사도 아니고, 석사 졸업학기인데도 불구하고 분과에서 제일 고참이라 (...) 위에 선배가 없어서 지도교수가 사실은 저런 유형이라고 미리 귀띔을 듣지도 못했구요. * 자아 off 하고 꾸역꾸역 억지로 억지로 쓰고 있는데, 날마다 점점 스트레스가 쌓이고 (편두통, 급체, 복통 등등이 너무 자주 와서 병원에 갔더니 과민성 대장 증후군 같다고 하더라구요.) 이러려고 공부하겠다고 대학원 들어왔나 싶은, 이게 과연 내 연구인가 싶은 환멸이 너무 심하게 듭니다. * 지도교수 꼴보기가 싫을 정도인데, 아이러니하게도 지도교수를 자주 보고 쓰기 싫은 글을 계속 써나가야 이게 끝이 나리라는 것도 너무 짜증납니다. 홍차넷에는 대학원생 생활을 겪으신 선배님들이 많이 있으신 걸로 알고 있습니다. 제가 이런 상황에서 어떻게 견뎌내면 좋을지, 하소연 너그러이 봐주시고 지나가는 길에 한마디 부탁드립니다. 흑흑.
