사실 제 이야기는 아니고 지인의 이야기 입니다 ㅎㅎㅎ 간단하게 말하면 지인분이 그래핀이라는 신소재를 저렴한 비용으로 생산해 낼 수 있는 기술을 개발했다고 하네요. 이야기를 듣기로 그래핀이 2010년에 노벨상 수상자의 대표업적일 정도로 굉장히 유용한 신소재인데, 유일한 단점은 생산비용이 높다는 것. 지인분의 기술이 이 단점을 커버 할 수 있는 것이지요. 하지만 가진 것(?)이라고는 조그만 lab 밖에 없는 상황에서 십억단위의 투자금 유치를 위해서 무엇을 어떻게 해야 할 지 조금 막막해하더라고요. 아마 제가 경제학을 공부했었던지라, 이런 쪽에 좀 더 잘 알지 않을까하는 기대를 했던 것 같은데... ㅎㅎ 경제학이라는게 그런게 아니잖아요 ㅎㅎ 아! 그래서 제가 궁금한 것은 이런 십억단위의 투자금을 유치하기 위해서 어떤 정석적인(?) 루트가 있을까요? 혹은 정부쪽에서 펀딩을 받을 수 있는 방법은 없는지...? 같이 이런저런 사는 이야기를 하다가 이렇게 디테일하게 이야기를 듣게 되었는데, 아쉽더라고요. 그래서 제가 조금이나마 도움을 드리고 싶어서 이렇게 글을 올려봅니다. VC 인맥이 있거나 학맥이 있지 않다면 기술과 아이템으로 자금을 받는 건 굉장히 힘들 것 같습니다. 1~2년 정도 버틸 여력이 된다면 초기 투자금 유치를 위한 로드맵을 만들 수 있을 겁니다. 전형적인 방법은 스타트업 컴퍼니 빌딩을 하며 관련 기업과 VC에 대한 인맥을 확보하는 겁니다. 기술 개발과 별 관련없는 노력이 많이 필요한 분야입니다. 정부쪽 펀딩을 기대하지 않는 게 낫습니다. 특히 10억이라면 거의 불가능하다고 봐야 할 겁니다.
해당 분야에 관심 있을만한 VC를 찾아가 직접 상담하면 무엇을 준비해야 하는지 알 수 있을 것 같습니다.
