안경을 부셔먹어서 급히 안경을 하나 맞추려고 하는데요. 집에 안경테는 있어서 렌즈만 맞추려고 합니다. 학생인지라 무조건 좋은 렌즈를 사기는 힘든데... 무난하게 어떤 옵션의 렌즈를 사면 될까요? 그리고 얼마의 예산을 잡아야하는지도 궁금하네요. 그냥 동네 안경점에 가면 될지 아니면 좀 더 저렴한 방법이 있는지도 궁금하네요. 예전 기억을 돌이켜보면 압축을 하고 안하고 블루라이트(?) 차단 되고 안되고에 따라서 가격차이가 꽤 있었던 기억이거든요. 시력은 컨택트렌즈 기준으로 -5디옵터 정도 됩니다. 그리고 학생인지라 주로 책과 컴퓨터를 가까이 하고 있습니다. 답변 미리 감사드립니다! 저는 눈의 합도수가 각각 -6디옵터가 넘는 사람입니다. 제 경우에는 안경렌즈 두께에 큰 신경을 안 쓰기 때문에 굴절률 1.6짜리 렌즈도 불만없이 썼지만, 안경렌즈 두께가 신경쓰인다면 1.67 혹은 그 이상의 렌즈도 생각해볼 법 합니다. 다만 제 경우에는 지금 1.67짜리를 쓰고 있는데, 솔직히 말하자면 얼핏 봐서 1.6이랑 그렇게까지 큰 차이는 안 느껴지더라고요. 근데 몇몇 국내 업체에서는 고급 렌즈설계를 굴절률 1.67 이상의 제품에만 적용해놔서 사실상 선택의 여지가 없는 경우도 있긴 합니다. 그리고 굴절률이 높아지면 아베수(Abbe number)라는 수치가 안 좋아집니다. 이 수치가 안 좋아지면 안경을 썼을 때 물체의 가장자리에서 빨갛거나 파란 윤곽선이 잘 보이게 됩니다. 색수차 현상이 보이게 되는 것이죠.
다음은 안경렌즈의 설계입니다. 우리가 보통 쓰는 근시·난시 교정용 안경은 단초점 렌즈를 사용합니다. 이것은 도수가 하나만 들어갔다는 것을 의미하지요. 요즘 나오는 비싼 기능성 렌즈(근시억제렌즈, 어시스트렌즈 등)는 사실 누진다초점렌즈를 응용한 것이라 엄밀히 말하자면 단초점 렌즈가 아닙니다만, 그런 것들은 너무 비싸니 일단 제외하지요. 안경렌즈의 설계로는 [구면, 외면비구면, 내면비구면, 양면비구면, 아토릭]이 있습니다.
구면 렌즈는 가장 기본적인 형태의 설계이지만, 도수가 -5디옵터 정도 되는 경우에는 이걸 쓰면 렌즈가 많이 두꺼워지고 시야 주변의 왜곡이 심해지기 때문에 안경사가 추천하지 않을 겁니다. 보통 비구면렌즈라고 하는 것은 외면비구면을 말합니다. 비구면이라는 것은 렌즈의 빛을 꺾는 곡면이 그냥 원형 비슷한 게 아니라 종 비스무리한 형태로 된 것으로, 외면비구면이라는 것은 이런 곡면을 안경 바깥쪽에다가 준 것입니다. 만들기가 비교적 편해서 가격은 저렴한 편이지만, 렌즈 두께나 왜곡을 줄여주는 능력은 딸립니다. 이 비구면 곡면이 눈과 가까울수록 왜곡을 줄여주는 능력이 올라간다고 하더라고요. 내면비구면은 이 원리를 이용해서, 안경 안쪽에 비구면 곡면을 준 렌즈를 말합니다. 일반 (외면)비구면보다는 조금 비싸지요.
요즘은 양면비구면이라고 해서 렌즈 앞뒤를 모두 특별히 가공하여 렌즈 두께를 최대한으로 줄인 안경렌즈도 있는데, 사실 이건 두께를 줄이는 데 집중하다 보면 눈에 보이는 왜곡은 오히려 심해질 수도 있는 방법입니다. 제대로 설계하면 별 문제 없다고는 하지만, 들리는 소문에는 국내 회사들의 양면비구면 제품은 광학적 성능보다 렌즈 두께 줄이기에 더 집중하였다는 카더라가 있더라고요. 가장 왜곡이 덜하고 시야가 넓게 보이는 방식은 아토릭이라는 설계인데, 어떤 곳에서는 이걸 “프리폼”이라고 부르기도 하지만 이것은 설계 방식이 아니라 안경렌즈를 CNC장비로 깎아서 만드는 방식을 뜻하는 것(이 방식 자체는 양면비구면이나 누진다초점렌즈 등의 제작에도 사용됩니다. 누진다초점 알아보면 이 말이 마케팅용으로 주구장창 나오더군요.)입니다. 난시가 심한 경우 이런 설계가 들어간 렌즈를 쓰는 것이 가장 좋지만, 문제는 아토릭 설계가 된 렌즈는 찾기가 힘들고 가격이 비싸다는 것이죠. 자기네들이 명시적으로 아토릭 설계가 들어간 렌즈를 만든다고 홍보하는 곳은 제가 아는 한 자이스, 토카이, 슈나이더, 엑셀라이트 정도(예전에 있었던 ‘솔라’는 자이스에 인수합병되며 사라짐)밖에 없는데, 일반 안경원에서는 기껏해야 자이스 정도나 취급하고 토카이만 해도 따로 특별히 거래하는 안경원에서나 볼 수 있는 브랜드거든요. 그나마 가장 찾기 쉬운 아토릭 렌즈로는 자이스의 수퍼브 등급 이상의 렌즈가 있는데, 자이즈 수퍼브의 국내 정가는 28만원(!)부터 시작합니다. 제가 눈이 예민해서 이런 아토릭 설계가 들어간 렌즈를 쓰는데, 좋기는 하지만 너무 비싸더라고요.

일단 “압축”이란 것은 안경원에서 설명을 위해서 만들어낸 용어일 뿐, 렌즈 생산과정에서 실제로 압축을 하는 경우는 없습니다. 만약에 진짜로 압축을 하면 응력에 의한 복굴절 현상이 일어나므로, 절대로 해서도 안 되고요. 안경 렌즈의 두께를 결정하는 것은 렌즈를 구성하는 물질의 [굴절률]인데, 이것은 구체적인 재질에 따라서 달라집니다. 일반적으로 안경렌즈의 굴절률은 CR-39라는 플라스틱 재질을 기준으로 말을 하는데, 이 물질의 굴절률은 1.498이라 보통은 1.5로 취급합니다. 요새는 CR-39 자체는 잘 안 쓰고, 그 다음인 1.56 재질(이걸 보통 “압축 1번 했다”고 표현합니다.)부터 사용하지요. 그 다음은 1.6(“압축 2번”), 1.67(“압축 3번”), 1.7, 1.74(“압축 4번”) 정도가 있습니다. 이 이상은 1.76이 있는데 이건 일본의 특정 업체(토카이광학)에서만 생산하는 제품이고, 그 이상의 굴절률을 원한다면 플라스틱이 아닌 유리 렌즈(1.8, 1.9)를 독일이나 일본 업체에서 주문해야 하지요. 따라서, 보통 안경원에서는 굴절률 1.56부터 1.74 사이의 플라스틱 렌즈를 취급한다고 보시면 됩니다. 그런데 1.56짜리 중굴절 재질은 사실 썩 좋은 재질은 아니라서, 싼 안경이 아니라면 웬만해서는 1.6 재질부터 사용하는 것이 보통이라고 하네요.
저는 눈의 합도수가 각각 -6디옵터가 넘는 사람입니다. 제 경우에는 안경렌즈 두께에 큰 신경을 안 쓰기 때문에 굴절률 1.6짜리 렌즈도 불만없이 썼지만, 안경렌즈 두께가 신경쓰인다면 1.67 혹은 그 이상의 렌즈도 생각해볼 법 합니다. 다만 제 경우에는 지금 1.67짜리를 쓰고 있는데, 솔직히 말하자면 얼핏 봐서 1.6이랑 그렇게까지 큰 차이는 안 느껴지더라고요. 근데 몇몇 국내 업체에서는 고급 렌즈설계를 굴절률 1.67 이상의 제품에만 적용해놔서 사실상 선택의 여지가 없는 경우도 있긴 합니다. 그리고 굴절률이 높아지면 아베수(Abbe number)라는 수치가 안 좋아집니다. 이 수치가 안 좋아지면 안경을 썼을 때 물체의 가장자리에서 빨갛거나 파란 윤곽선이 잘 보이게 됩니다. 색수차 현상이 보이게 되는 것이죠.
다음은 안경렌즈의 설계입니다. 우리가 보통 쓰는 근시·난시 교정용 안경은 단초점 렌즈를 사용합니다. 이것은 도수가 하나만 들어갔다는 것을 의미하지요. 요즘 나오는 비싼 기능성 렌즈(근시억제렌즈, 어시스트렌즈 등)는 사실 누진다초점렌즈를 응용한 것이라 엄밀히 말하자면 단초점 렌즈가 아닙니다만, 그런 것들은 너무 비싸니 일단 제외하지요. 안경렌즈의 설계로는 [구면, 외면비구면, 내면비구면, 양면비구면, 아토릭]이 있습니다.
구면 렌즈는 가장 기본적인 형태의 설계이지만, 도수가 -5디옵터 정도 되는 경우에는 이걸 쓰면 렌즈가 많이 두꺼워지고 시야 주변의 왜곡이 심해지기 때문에 안경사가 추천하지 않을 겁니다. 보통 비구면렌즈라고 하는 것은 외면비구면을 말합니다. 비구면이라는 것은 렌즈의 빛을 꺾는 곡면이 그냥 원형 비슷한 게 아니라 종 비스무리한 형태로 된 것으로, 외면비구면이라는 것은 이런 곡면을 안경 바깥쪽에다가 준 것입니다. 만들기가 비교적 편해서 가격은 저렴한 편이지만, 렌즈 두께나 왜곡을 줄여주는 능력은 딸립니다. 이 비구면 곡면이 눈과 가까울수록 왜곡을 줄여주는 능력이 올라간다고 하더라고요. 내면비구면은 이 원리를 이용해서, 안경 안쪽에 비구면 곡면을 준 렌즈를 말합니다. 일반 (외면)비구면보다는 조금 비싸지요.
요즘은 양면비구면이라고 해서 렌즈 앞뒤를 모두 특별히 가공하여 렌즈 두께를 최대한으로 줄인 안경렌즈도 있는데, 사실 이건 두께를 줄이는 데 집중하다 보면 눈에 보이는 왜곡은 오히려 심해질 수도 있는 방법입니다. 제대로 설계하면 별 문제 없다고는 하지만, 들리는 소문에는 국내 회사들의 양면비구면 제품은 광학적 성능보다 렌즈 두께 줄이기에 더 집중하였다는 카더라가 있더라고요. 가장 왜곡이 덜하고 시야가 넓게 보이는 방식은 아토릭이라는 설계인데, 어떤 곳에서는 이걸 “프리폼”이라고 부르기도 하지만 이것은 설계 방식이 아니라 안경렌즈를 CNC장비로 깎아서 만드는 방식을 뜻하는 것(이 방식 자체는 양면비구면이나 누진다초점렌즈 등의 제작에도 사용됩니다. 누진다초점 알아보면 이 말이 마케팅용으로 주구장창 나오더군요.)입니다. 난시가 심한 경우 이런 설계가 들어간 렌즈를 쓰는 것이 가장 좋지만, 문제는 아토릭 설계가 된 렌즈는 찾기가 힘들고 가격이 비싸다는 것이죠. 자기네들이 명시적으로 아토릭 설계가 들어간 렌즈를 만든다고 홍보하는 곳은 제가 아는 한 자이스, 토카이, 슈나이더, 엑셀라이트 정도(예전에 있었던 ‘솔라’는 자이스에 인수합병되며 사라짐)밖에 없는데, 일반 안경원에서는 기껏해야 자이스 정도나 취급하고 토카이만 해도 따로 특별히 거래하는 안경원에서나 볼 수 있는 브랜드거든요. 그나마 가장 찾기 쉬운 아토릭 렌즈로는 자이스의 수퍼브 등급 이상의 렌즈가 있는데, 자이즈 수퍼브의 국내 정가는 28만원(!)부터 시작합니다. 제가 눈이 예민해서 이런 아토릭 설계가 들어간 렌즈를 쓰는데, 좋기는 하지만 너무 비싸더라고요.
