누구도 미래를 예측할 수는 없지만.... 저는 영어를 전공했습니다. 패기있게 영문학 단일전공이구요. 촌에서 자라 영어학원도 한 번 안다녀본 주제에 그래도 이름있는 대학 영문학과에 들어가서 처음 1,2년은 해외파 출신 동기들 사이에서 엄청나게 고생했구요. 어찌어찌 졸업은 했습니다. 대학 입학 후 첫 토익 점수가 400점대였으니 말 다했죠. 원어민 교수님이 숙제 내주는 걸 못알아 들었어요..ㅎㅎ 그래도 영문과 출신이라 토익점수가 높아서 그런지..(취준 현역 때 970까지는 찍었네요.) 그럭저럭 회사 취업이 되서 그럭저럭 특기 없이 살아는 가고 있습니다. 능숙하지 못한 외국어 전공자는 평생 그 외국어가 컴플렉스이기 떄문에..저도 계속 꾸준히 영어를 공부하고 있습니다. (한편으로는 별다른 특기 없는 문돌이 특성상...여차해서 회사에서 잘못되면 제 고향 촌에가서 학원 영어 선생님으로 뛸 수 있는 실력이라도 만들어야겠다는 생각에...ㅎㅎ) 그런데 한번씩 구글 번역이나 ai를 보면 내가 지금 이거 공부해서 뭐하나...라는 생각이 들기도 합니다. ㅎㅎ 특히 영어는 조만간 사람의 능력이 필요 없지 않을까... 지금도 웬만한 article은 제가 번역하는 것 보다 구글 번역 한 번 돌리면 훨씬 나은 것 같다는 생각이 들기도 하구요. 홍차넷 회원님들은 영어를 공부할 필요가 있다고 생각하시나요?
