안녕하세요. 여기 의료계 종사자 분들도 많으신 것 같고 특히 정신과 의사분들도 계신 것 같아 (심리치료 하시는 분들도 있으실까요?) 질문드려봅니다. 요즘 감정이 널뛰기 하듯이 왔다갔다 하는 것을 스스로 많이 느낄 수가 있어서 감정조절에 좋은 방법이 없을까 질문드려요. 현재 상황은: 미국에서 박사 유학 중이고 하루종일 매일매일 논문만 쓰는 상황입니다 (상당히 외롭고 지루하다고 느낍니다). 함께 규칙적으로 공부하는사람 없고 혼자합니다. 가끔 (한달에 한번 정도) 과 친구들과 이야기 하기는 합니다. 작년에는 아주 상태가 좋았습니다. 논문 진도는 많이 못나갔지만 티칭에 과대까지 하느라고 매우 바빴고 (일이 많았고) 연애를 시작했는데(미국인입니다) 상대가 메디컬 스쿨 마지막 해라 상당히 스케쥴이 널럴하여 (저보다도 훨씬 여유로웠습니다) 시간이 날 때마다 신나게 잘 놀았습니다. 남친 뿐만 아니라 남친 가족들 전부하고 잘맞았고 빠르게 가까워져서 1년이라는 시간동안 서로 가족이라 느낄만큼 가까워졌습니다 (모든 가족행사 동반참석 및 부모님들과도 문자 메일 자주 연락하는 사이가 됨). 유학생활 외롭게 하다가 갑자기 남친 뿐만 아니라 가족까지 생긴 느낌이라 행복했어요. 이제 문제는 남친이 인턴생활을 시작하여 2시간여 떨어진 도시로 이동하게 되었고, 툭하면 밤낮도 바뀌고 잠자고 일하는 시간 빼면 남는 시간이 거의 없거나 잘 시간조차 거의 없는 날이 많고 주말도 이주에 한번 오프나는 (그러지 않는 경우도 있고요), 오프가 나도 하루라던가 아니면 나이트 쉬프트 후에 생기는 오프라 반나절은 자느라 보내고 나머지도 뭐 피곤한 상태. 뭐 다들 아시는 인턴라이프입니다. 한국 의사들의 끔찍한 인턴생활 얘기는 많이 들어서 그보다는 나은 것 같습니다만 (그리고 빡센 과는 아니라서 아주 죽을 정도는 아닙니다). 저는 장학금을 받아 티칭없이 그냥 논문만 쓸 수 있는 사실은 상당히 행복할 수 있는 상황입니다. 논문 쓰는 것 외에 아무런 의무들이 없으니 자유로워서 얼마든지 남친보러 그 도시에 가서 머무를 수도 있어요. 마음껏 읽고 생각할 수 있는 시간이 있다는 점은 만족스럽습니다. 문제는 저는 너무나 자유로운 시간이 많아졌고 (물론 놀으라고 주어진 시간이 아니며 놀지도 않고 꾸준히 열심히 논문 씁니다). 남친은 제가 집에 방문해서 있어도 보기가 힘들고 봐도 항상 피곤하고 스트레스도 많은 상황이라는 것입니다. 남친은 매우 성실하고 선한 사람이고요. 나름대로 자신에게 허락된 시간 에너지 내에서는 저에게 최선을 다합니다. 물론 성격적으로 답답한 부분도 있고 특히 말을 너무 솔직하게만 하고 말수도 적은 타입이다 보니 그러한 면에서 저를 화나게 하거나 그럴 때는 있어요. 그런데 자신이 할 수 있는한 최선을 다해서 관계를 유지하려고 한다는 점은 제가 정말 잘 느끼고 있습니다. 그렇기 때문에 저도 할 수 있는한 최선을 다해서 잘하려고 애썼어요. 남친 없이 남친 부모님 댁에가서 부모님께 대신 근황을 전하기도 했고 남친 집에 머물때는 점심 도시락 싸주고 저녁해주고 집안일 해주고. 힘들어 지쳐 퇴근하면 웃겨주려고 노력하고. 기타 등등. 그런 상황이 몇개월이 지나니까 남친 입장에서만 생각하면 그 상황에서 이 정도로 잘해준다는게 너무 고마운데, 제 입장에서 생각하면 눈물이나고 화가나는 현상이 생겼습니다. 제가 가지는 욕구들이 잘 채워지지 않는 상황인 것같아요. 정기적으로 다양한 사람을 만난다던가 일한 후에 쉬고 싶을때 적당히 남자친구와 이야기하고 좋은 시간을 보내고 싶다던가. 그러니 예전에는 가볍게 넘어갔던 PMS가 심하게 옵니다. 너무너무 화가나서 (이유도 딱히 없는데) 소리를 지르면서 거리를 질주하고 싶다거나 물건을 던지고 파괴하고 싶은 정도의 분노가 생깁니다. 그러고 생리가 시작되면 그 분노는 사그러 드는데 대신에 우울해지는 것 같아요. 제 선에서 하는 노력들은, 사람들을 만나려고 writing group같은 것들 가지려고 하는데 서로 다들 시간이 안맞고 그럴때가 많아서 자주 이루어지지는 않습니다. 운동을 해보려고 하는데 운동을 가야한다는 생각이 더 스트레스가 되고 돈을 내고 안가는 경우가 많아져서 요즘은 또 돈내고 하는 운동은 안하고 있고요. 저는 사람들을 좋아해서 사람들 만나고 같이 노래를 한다거나 (?) 대화를 한다거나 그런 일이 하고싶은데 교회를 가지 않는 이상 이것들을 정기적으로 하는건 힘든 것 같아요. 그런데 저는 종교가 없고 교회에 가서 하나님의 뜻으로 누가 대학에 잘갔다 이런 식의 얘기가 나오면 알러지 반응이 일어나서 교회가기도 선뜻 내키지가 않네요. 심리상담 할 수 있는 앱(?)들이 있는 것 같아서 일단 상담 신청도 해놓았는데 효과가 얼마나 있을지는 모르겠네요. 제가 이 상태를 좀 개선하고 싶은 이유는. 분명히 이성적으로 정신을 차리면 그렇게까지 분노할만한 일들이 아닌데 PMS 가 있을법한 기간에는 정말 모든 사소한 일들이 분노스럽고 그게 주변인들 (남친도 포함)에게 향하게 된다는 것이에요. 점점 우울한 날들이 더 많아지는 것도 걱정되고요. PMS이라는 생각이 들어도 여전히 분노가 안사그러듭니다. 정말 소위 미칠 것만 같은 상태가 찾아와요. 무엇을 어떻게하면 감정조절을 더 잘할 수 있을까요? 홍차넷에 남성분들이 많다고 들어서 PMS를 이해하기 힘드실 수도 있겠지만 의료계 종사자 분들이나 심리치료 하시는 분들 혹시 아실까해서 올려봅니다. 남친도 의료계 종사자긴 한데 남친은 저보고 정상이니 overthink 하지말고 chill out하면 된다는 별 도움 안되는 말만 하네요. 평소에 다른 취미같은건 없으셨나요?
그냥 읽어보았을 때는 삶의 매너리즘같은 걸 느끼는 것 같기도 합니다.
어려서 좋아했던 취미들을 다시 시작해보던가
무언가 평소에 흥미는 있었지만 쉽게 시도해보지 못했던
새롭고 도전적인 일이 필요한 것 같습니다.
