그리고 흔히 말하는 Full HD, 즉 1920×1080 해상도에서 이 96 dpi에 가장 근접한 화면 크기는 바로 23인치입니다. (95.78 ppi)
이 때문에 23인치 Full HD 모니터에서 MS가 의도한 100% 크기와 가장 비슷하게 보이는 것일 뿐이지, 실제로 23인치 모니터가 표준이고 뭐 그런 것은 아닙니다.
MS 표준인 96 dpi에서 A4 용지의 짧은 쪽 길이인 210 mm는 794 px로 환산됩니다. 이 794 px의 길이가 27인치 모니터에서는 약 246 mm로 보이게 됩니다. 이는 27인치 Full HD 모니터의 PPI는 약 82(81.59) ppi이기 때문입니다. (참고 : http://www.pixelcalculator.com/) 따라서 Windows 상의 애플리케이션에서 출력되는 100% 크기를 정확하게 맞추려면, 시스템의 DPI 설정을 강제로 바꾸어야 합니다. 인터넷을 잠시 찾아보니, Windows 상에서 표준 DPI를 지정하고 있는 레지스트리는 [HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG/Software/Fonts/LogPixels]이라는 모양입니다. 27인치 모니터의 경우에는, 이 값을 0x00000060 (96)에서 0x00000052 (82)로 바꾸어야 하겠지요.
그런데, 정말 이렇게까지 해가면서 애플리케이션상의 확대비율과 실물의 비율을 1:1로 맞추어야 하는지 저는 좀 회의적입니다. 위에서 제시한 레지스트리 변경이 실제로 얼마나 효과적일지는 제가 직접 시험해보지 않아서 장담할 수도 없고요. 최악의 경우에는, 윈도우 디스플레이 설정이 꼬여서 뭔가 화면이 이상하게 될 위험성까지 잠재합니다. 따라서 굳이 레지스트리 수정을 하시겠다면 저는 말리지는 않겠지만, 결과에 대한 책임도 질 수 없다는 점을 알려드립니다.
만약에 그냥 응용프로그램 상에서 비율 조정으로 A4 용지와 1:1 크기를 맞추겠다면, 이 경우에는 85%로 하면 되겠네요. (82/96×100≒85.4)
마침 제 모니터도 27인치 Full HD라, 워드프로세서 상에서 비율을 85%로 맞추고 A4 용지를 대어 보니 완벽하지는 않지만 대강 맞습니다. 이 정도면 충분할까요?

마침 제 모니터도 27인치 Full HD라, 워드프로세서 상에서 비율을 85%로 맞추고 A4 용지를 대어 보니 완벽하지는 않지만 대강 맞습니다. 이 정도면 충분할까요?
