요 근래 다시금 상대성이론에 관심이 생겨 빛의 물리학이란 다큐멘터리를 다시 보기 시작했습니다. 영상을 보다가 직관적으로 이해가 안되는 부분이 있어 질문을 드려봅니다. 일단 중력이란 개념이 물체를 끌어당기는 힘이 아닌 공간의 휘어짐으로 발생하는 현상이라는 내용을 봤습니다. 즉, 가속도 운동으로 인하여 가속도 진행 반대방향으로 공간이 휘어지고, 그 휘어짐으로 물체가 떨어지는 중력이 생긴다는 개념으로 이해했는데 이게 맞는건가요. 그리고 지구의 공전 역시 태양이 일으킨 공간의 휘어짐에 영향이 받아 발생한 현상이라고 하던데 이 개념이 명확하게 와닿지가 않네요. 이 나이에 물리학에 대해서 파고 들 생각은 없지만 관심분야에서 뭔가 이해가 확실히 안되니 답답합니다. 전문가 분들의 의견을 기다리겠습니다. 이건 엘레건트 유니버스라고 하는 다큐멘터리를 보면 이해가 쉽게 갑니다. 3차원의 공간을 시각화해서 휘어짐을 그리는게 쉽지는 않지만 2차원이라고 가정을 해서 마치 침대 매트리스 위에 무거운 볼링공을 하나 놓는다고 가정을 해보죠. 그럼 볼링공 주위로 공간이 움푹 들어가서 휘어지겠죠? 그 주위로 구슬을 굴리면 마찰이 없다는 가정하에 움푹 들어간 주위로 구슬이 멀리 빠져나가지 못 하고 볼링공 주위를 돌거에요. 질량에 비례하여 주변의 공간을 그렇게 휘게 한다고 합니다. 질량이 커지면 더 넓은 공간을 움푹 들어가게 하겠죠. 블랙홀은 질량이 무한에 수렴하니 아주 뾰족하게 매트리스 공간을 누르고 있고 그 주변의 물체들은 빠져나올 수 없습니다. 답변은 했는데 자신이 없네요.
