- x 염색체보다 y 염색체가 현저히 작기 때문에 y염색체를 보유한 정자가 가벼워서 더 빨리 움직일 수 있어서 y 염색체를 가진 정자가 수정에 다소 유리하다는 '설'이 있습니다. 물론 이는 정자 형성 과정시 제대로 형성된 정자들 간의 이야기입니다. (y염색체를 가지고 있어도 제대로 형성되지 못한 애들은 당연히 느릴 수 밖에 없어서...)
- 근데 막상 또 영국 대학의 연구에서는, 이형 염색체를 가진 쪽이 성비가 더 적다고 합니다. 따라서 포유류의 경우는 xy 가 xx 보다 성비가 더 적어야 한다고 하는데.. (실제로도 인간 외의 포유류는 암컷이 좀 더 많습니다.) 왜 인간만 다른건지는 아직 잘 모르겠습니다.
