  엠브레인퍼블릭·케이스탯리서치·코리아리서치·한국리서치 4개 여론 조사기관이 지난 13일~15일 실시한 조사결과에 따르면 ‘최근 정부가 일제 강제징용 피해를 일본 기업 대신 한국 정부가 재단을 만들고 민간기금을 모아 피해자에게 배상하는 방안을 발표한 것에 대해 ‘안보, 경제 협력 등 일본과의 관계 개선이 불가피하므로 찬성한다’는 응답이 33%였다. 반면 ‘일본 정부 및 기업의 참여와 사과가 없는 해법이므로 반대한다’는 응답이 60%로 나타났다(모름/무응답 7%). ‘반대’ 응답이 ‘찬성’에 비해 약 2배 정도 많아 이를 둘러싼 정치적 갈등은 윤석열 정부 임기 동안 지속될 가능성이 높아졌다. 연령대별로 18~20대(찬성 28% 대 반대 61%), 30대(23% 대 68%), 40대(20% 대 77%), 50대(26% 대 70%) 등에서는 정부 해법안에 대한 반대가 강했고 60대(49% 대 45%)에서는 양쪽 의견이 갈렸으며 70대 이상(57% 대 30%)에서는 찬성 의견이 많았다.
