원제목 : Air Buster 제작사 : Kaneko(카네코) 유통 : 남코 제작연도 : 1990   횡스크롤 슈팅게임의 숨겨진 명작. 제작사 카네코를 얘기 안할 수 없는데요... 조이스틱에 손때좀 뭍혀봤다는 사람도 눈썰미가 없으면 카네코가 무슨 회사인지 잘 모르지만, 여러분은 분명 카네코가 만든 게임을 99%의 확률로 해보거나 손에 땀을 쥐면서 구경한 경험이 있습니다. 남자라면. 바로 희대의 명작, 갈스패닉을 제작한 회사지요. 갈스패닉이 뭔지 모르시겠다구요?  -2.png)  *-_-* 갈스패닉은 1,2편까지는 실사 모델을 사용하였지만, 3편부터는 2D 캐릭터로 전환하여 전편보다 더 많은 인기를 얻었죠. 역시 2D가 짱. 카네코가 멀 좀 아는 회사라는거죠. 여담입니다만, 3번째 짤방... 전캐릭 100%에 도전하시는 분인걸로 알고 있는데요... 거의 성공했다고 봐도 무방한 것이 왼쪽 가운데 쌍둥이가 제일 난이도 있는 캐릭인데 그거 100% 했으면 거의 성공했다고 봐도 무방하죠. 역시 갈스패닉은... 아..아닙니다. 저 오락실에서 갈스패닉하고 그런 사람 아닙니다. 그냥 카네코 회사 얘기하는 중에 잠깐 얘기한 거에요. 하여튼... 저는 개인적으로 에어 버스터를 정말 좋아했었습니다. 메카닉 덕후라면 한번쯤 뒤돌아보게 만드는 충실한 메카닉 디자인, 깔끔한 그래픽에 타격감 좋고 효과음 좋고, 배경음악도 강렬하거나 그런건 아니지만 게임 분위기에 잘 녹아있습니다.  메카닉 간지 좀 쩌는듯... 유튜브에도 BGM모음이 따로 있을 정도로 은근히 좋아하는 사람들이 많죠. 횡스크롤 슈팅게임입니다. PC엔진, 메가드라이브로 이식발매되었는데, 발매 당시 가정용 콘솔로 즐길 수 있는 유일한 2인플레이 가능한 횡스크롤 슈팅게임이었죠. 버튼은 노멀샷 하나뿐입니다. 버튼을 누르고 있으면 게이지가 차고 끝까지 모은 다음 버튼을 떼면 천둥소리와 함께 화면상의 모든 총알과 적기체에 노멀샷 한발과 동일한 타격을 줍니다. 물론 쿨타임 있구요. 스테이지 진행하면서 나오는 아이템캐리어를 폭파하며 아이템이 나옵니다. P는 노멀샷 파워업 S는 사이드옵션 빨간색 M은 파워유도탄 연두색 M은 유도능력은 더 좋지만 파워는 떨어지는 유도탄 6은 6방향 총알 R은 후방 7시, 10시 방향으로 나가는 총알 H는 기체 후방에 시계방향으로 돌아가면서 총알을 쏘는 옵션 생성 B는 2스테이지 고속 스크롤되는 터널에만 나오는 옵션인데, 지형과 충돌하는 것을 막아주는 옵션입니다. 100% 막아주는건 아니죠. 게임 플레이는 80~90년대 슈팅게임이 다 그렇듯 어렵습니다. 피탄판정 칼같아서 스치면 죽음이고, 3스테이지 정도만 가도 진짜 총알이 쏟아집니다. 그래서 2p 플레이로 총알 없애는 게이지샷을 전략적으로 사용하는게 중요하죠. 물론, 과거에는 그런거 없이 독고다이로 쭉쭉 원코인 엔딩 보는 괴물들이 오락실에 한둘은 있었죠. 그게 저였네요. ;;; 요즘 과거 오락실 게임 리뷰하면서 마메로 당시 게임을 한번씩 해보는데요... 하면 할수록 과거에 저라는 인간은 어떤 인간이었는지... 궁금해집니다. 분명히 제 기억에는 이런거 코파면서 원코인 엔딩보고 그랬었는데 지금은 원코인은 커녕 손이 아예 반응을 안해요. ㅠㅠ  아아... 이것이 젊음인가...  수정펀치를 쳐맞고도 정신못차리는 샤아는 도데체 어떤 인간인가... 저도 그래여. 데헷... 에... 제가 에어 버스터를 좋아하는 이유는 시원한 속도감과 스테이지별로 개성넘치는 레벨디자인입니다. 1스테이지는 평범한 지구배경입니다.  2스테이지는 기계화 동굴입니다. 이 스테이지는 좁은 동굴에서의 고속스크롤의 속도감이 일품입니다. 위 동영상 3분 50초경에서 확인하실 수 있습니다.  또한 보스전에서의 스크롤 또한 원심력이 일어나는 듯한 착시를 일으키는 멋진 연출입니다.  3스테이지는 1스테이지처럼 평범한 지구배경인데 1스테이지에 비해 높이 올라간 것을 느낄 수 있습니다. 보스 등장 직전에 지구 대기권을 넘어서 우주로 돌입합니다. 역시 우주는 소년의 로망이죠.  보스입니다.  4스테이지부터는 본격적으로 우주입니다. 스테이지 제목이 out of gravity인데요, 여기서부터는 기체를 한방향으로 조작하고 그대로 두면 쭈욱 그쪽으로 밀려갑니다. 무중력 상태의 우주를 연출한 건데요, 이게 게임 난이도를 대폭 상승시킵니다. ;;  5스테이지는 적의 행성으로 돌입하는거 같습니다.  보스 메카닉 간지 좀 쩌는듯..  6스테이지가 마지막입니다. 적의 심장부로...! 이넘이 끝판왕입니다.  끝판왕을 깨면, 그 흔한 엔딩 서비스컷 하나 안나오고 딸랑,  나오고 스탭롤 올라오고 끝입니다. 한잔해, 그래도 재미있는 게임 했잖아? 뭐 이런 느낌?  쉽지 않은 난이도입니다. 패턴을 익히면 그래도 쉬운데, 요새 나오는 탄막슈팅게임 못지않게 총알이 쏟아지는데 피폭판정도 칼같아서 스치면 사망이고, 죽으면 지금까지 올려놨던 파워업이 다 말짱도루묵. ㅠㅠ 그래도 기본 총알회피스킬이 있다면 어찌어찌 극복가능한 것이 죽으면 난이도도 조금 떨어집니다. 물론 쉽다는건 아니구요. 쏟아지는 총알을 이리저리 피하는 슈팅게임 좋아하시고, 메카닉 좋아하시면 눈도 즐겁고 손도 즐거운 그런 게임입니다. 지금 기준으로도 그리 촌스럽지 않은 그래픽에 타격감도 좋고 사운드도 충실합니다. 왜 이게 시리즈로 나오지 않았을까 궁금할 정도입니다. 그냥 제 뇌내망상인데 남코에서 퍼블리싱하면서 제작에도 일정 수준 관여를 한게 아닐까 싶습니다. 그렇지 않고서는 게임이 하늘에서 뚝 떨어지는 것도 아니고, 이렇게 멋진 메카닉 디자인과 레벨 디자인 그냥 나오는게 아니잖아요. 하여튼, 정말 좋아했던 슈팅게임이었고, 후속작이 안나와서 안타까운, 그런 게임입니다. 갈스 패닉이야 잘 알지만.. 이건 정말 처음 보는 게임이네요.. 와 첨보는 게임이 있다는게 더 충격입니다. 80-90년대 초반까지는 모든 오락실 게임을 대략 다 안다고 생각했는데.. (마메보면 모르는게 몇개씩 있긴 해요.)
