 원래 5월달에 타사이트에 쓴 글인데 나중에 이곳에도 올리려고 보니까 한국에서 정식루트로 보려면 아마존에서 블루레이 사다가 보는 방법 밖에 없기 때문에 소개하는 의미가 없다 싶어 쓰지 않았었습니다.(신기하게 OST는 음원 사이트에 있더군요) 그러다 이번 주에 서울 남산 애니메이션 센터에서 하는 제 13회 인디-애니 페스트에서 당 작품이 상영작으로 나온다는 소식을 접하고 이때다 싶어 내용을 보강하여 소개해봅니다. 바다의 노래 Song of the sea는 아일랜드 애니메이션 스튜디오인 Cartoon Saloon에서 제작한 켈스의 비밀의 후속작으로써 2014년에 개봉하여 2015년 아카데미 어워드 장편 애니메이션 후보에 노미네이트 되기도 한 작품입니다.(수상은 빅 히어로6) 1987년 아일랜드를 배경으로, 섬집 등대지기의 자녀들인 여동생이 싫은 10살 소년 벤과 말을 못하는 그 여동생 6살 소녀 시얼샤가 우연찮게 엄마와 관계된 어떤 현상을 밝혀나가는 이야기를 다루고 있습니다. 이 작품의 가장 큰 특징은 바로 '압도적으로 아름다운 작화'로, 고급 동화 일러스트같은 빼어난 미장센을 두고 미국의 나무위키로 볼 수 있는 TV tropes 에서는 이를 Scenery Porn 이라고도 하고 있습니다(신카이 마코토 작품에도 같은 표현을 쓰고 있지요) 이미 몽환적이고 감각적인 작화로 유명했던 전작 켈스의 비밀에서 보다 더 발전한 표현력과 세련됨, 다양한 무대와 연출을 보여줍니다. 또한 제목에 노래라는 단어가 들어간만큼 음악 역시 좋은데 켈틱 분위기가 물씬 나는 아름다운 노래가 작화와 환상적인 조합을 만들어냅니다. 또한 제가 이 작품에서 또 주목한 것은 내러티브 면에서 전작인 켈스의 비밀보다 더 발전한 것에 있는데요, 켈스의 비밀은 내러티브 자체로는 기승전결이 모호해서 언듯 한번만 보면 잘 이해가 안가는 작품이었습니다. 전과 결 사이가 자연스럽지않고 결말도 ?가 뜨고요. 캐릭터 역할 배분에 있어서도 아쉬움이 보였죠(아이슬링 쨔응ㅠ) 그에 반해 바다의 노래는 기승전결이 뚜렷하고, 인물 간의 관계를 더 부각시켰으며, 각자 역할 비중이 잘 배분되어 있습니다. 결말 후 여운도 많이 남겨주고요. 또한 배경은 단순히 작화만 잘그린게 아니라 그 외의 요소들로 감상할 여지를 더 남기고 있습니다. 한 예로 본 작품은 켈트 신화가 소재인데 배경에 이따금 기독교의 상징들을 배치해두어 묘한 조합을 이루어 냅니다. 그러고보니 전작도 기독교 수도사와 숲 속의 요정이라는 이질적인 조합이네요.(아서왕 전설을 생각하면 새삼스러운건 아니지만요) 생각해보면 굳이 그럴 필요가 없음에도 이런 것들을 넣는거 보면, 기독교의 전파로 인해 켈트 신화가 변질되고 잊혀져간 것에 대해 제작자가 애증이 좀 있지 않나 개인적으로 추측해봅니다.(사실 이런 '망각' 또한 본 작품의 소재 중 하나입니다) 그리고 캐릭터!! 켈스의 비밀의 캐릭터 디자인은 서양식 특유의 선이 굵고 과장된 데포르메가 눈에 띄였다면 바다의 노래는 캐릭터가 좀 더 동화 일러스트 풍으로 차분하면서 동글동글하게 디자인되었습니다(조연들은 켈스의 비밀 느낌이 나지만). 덕분에 캐릭터들이 보다 더 아기자기해졌지요. 특히 벤과 시얼샤가 너무 귀여워요!!!! 아름다운 작화와 음악, 부담없는 이야기 전개로 한 편의 잘 만든 동화를 보는 느낌입니다. 이 전 글에서는 아이들과도 함께 시청하기에 매우 좋을 거 같다고 했지만, 최근 복습해며 곰곰히 생각해보니 지금은 다른 생각이 들더군요. 이 작품, 귀여운 캐릭터와 아름다운 작화에도 불구하고 생각보다 분위기가 어둡습니다. 아무래도 동네가 동네인 만큼(브리튼 제도) 날씨가 내내 우중충합니다. 트레일러들을 봐도 아시겠지만 실제로 야외씬이 대부분임에도 결말 부분을 제외하면 배경에 푸른 하늘과 햇빛이 거의 나오지 않습니다. 덕분에 전체적으로 채도가 낮고 잿빛 기운이 감돌고 있지요. 이런 비주얼은 아이들에겐 지루할 수도 있겠다는 생각이 들어서 아이들이랑 보실 분은 참고하셨으면 좋겠습니다. 어쨌든 길이도 90분 정도로 일반 디즈니 장편 애니 보다 짧은 편이며 장면장면마다 나오는 아름다운 그림들과 너무도 귀여운 시얼샤를 침흘리며 보다보면 어느새 결말을 맞이하게 되더라구요. 정말 추천합니다. 여러가지로 전작 켈스의 비밀에서 부족했던 부분들을 보완하고 장점은 업그레이드 시켰습니다. 2D 애니메이션의 매력을 한 껏 보여주는 작품입니다. imdb 평점 8.3, 메타크리틱 85점, 로튼토마토 99% . 국내상영은 9월 19일에 명동CGV, 20일에 서울 남산 애니메이션 센터에서 한타임씩 이루어집니다. 게스트 토크도 있을 예정. 관람 정보 http://www.ianifest.org/2015/sub/m_06.html?PHPSESSID=cc45ef1120d197adcd6ef0ec847e303d (현재 예매는 20일 것만 받고 있습니다) Warning: Use of undefined constant no - assumed 'no' (this will throw an Error in a future version of PHP) in /home/redtea/html/a_skin/bbsd/view.php on line 133 Warning: Use of undefined constant no - assumed 'no' (this will throw an Error in a future version of PHP) in /home/redtea/html/a_skin/bbsd/view.php on line 146 Warning: Use of undefined constant vote - assumed 'vote' (this will throw an Error in a future version of PHP) in /home/redtea/html/a_skin/bbsd/view.php on line 161 0 이 게시판에 등록된 인간흑인대머리남캐님의 최근 게시물 |
