듀게에서 어떤 분이 링크해주신 걸 보고 정독한 다음에 홍차넷에도 올려보면 좋을 것 같아서 장정일 씨의 칼럼을 퍼왔습니다. 그알 보도 첫날엔 저도 절로 뜨악해지며 이재명이 그럼 그랬지... 하고 혀를 찼는데 시간이 조금 지나서 보니 과연 그 보도가 정말 제대로 된 보도였을까라는 의문의 여지가 남더군요. 그러던 차에 고개를 주억거리며 읽게 되는 글이었습니다. 여러분들은 어떻게 생각하시는지 궁금합니다. ===== http://www.hankookilbo.com/v/446b74f3e45a4396a92565d2f376e2e3 지난 일요일 오전, 전날 저녁에 방송된 SBS ‘그것이 알고 싶다: 권력과 조폭’편을 보았다.방송을 보고나서 하루 종일, ‘무섭다, 무섭다’라는 말만 되뇌었다. 과장이 아니다. 이튿날, 노회찬 의원의 부고를 접했다. ‘그것이 알고 싶다’가 언제 노회찬 의원에게 부당한 경력 단절을 안겼던 삼성 X파일에 대해 다룬 적이 있었던가. 이번에 방영된 ‘권력과 조폭’은 작년 7월 방송된 ‘청춘의 덫 – 파타야 살인사건’의 후속편이다. 태국에서 일어난 파타야 살인사건은 2015년 11월, 임동준 군이 불법 도박 사이트를 운영하는 조폭 김형진에게 구금되어 있던 중 폭행으로 숨진 사건이다. 유력 용의자인 김형진은 28개월 동안의 도주 행각 끝에 올해 3월 베트남에서 검거되어 한국으로 송환됐다. 여러 가지 정황 증거와 증언이 있는데도 김형진의 기소장에는 살인과 사체유기 혐의가 빠졌다. ‘권력과 조폭’은 검경의 비호 의혹과 아울러, 김형진 배후에 성남 국제마피아파와 이들이 합법적으로 운영하는 기업 코마트레이드가 있다는 것을 밝혔다. 여기까지의 내용이 80분간 방영된 이 방송물의 전반부다. 후반부는 성남 국제마피아파와 코마트레이드 사이의 연관성을 캐던 중에, 이재명 전 성남시장이 국제마피아파와 연루ㆍ유착된 사실을 발견했다고 주장한다. 그러나 이 폭로물이 이재명과 국제마피아파 사이의 연루ㆍ유착 근거라고 제시한 것들은 모두 허약한 가정과 고의적인 왜곡에 기초하고 있다. 예컨대 인권변호사는 조폭의 무죄를 확신해야만 변호를 맡을 수 있는 것이 아니라, 조폭에게도 인권이 있다고 믿기 때문에 사건을 수임하는 것이다. 정작 이 방송물의 문제는 기본을 확실하게 챙기지 못했다는데 있지 않다. 이 방송물이 무서운 것은, 김형진을 비호하는 배후로 이재명을 연상할 수 있도록 서사가 조작되었다는 것이다. 탐사보도물의 연출자는 자신이 캐낸 증거와 논리로 스스로를 증명해야 한다. 그러나 ‘권력과 조폭’은 자신이 갖추지 못한 증거와 논리를 영화에 의탁한다. 이 탐사보도물에 따르면, 이재명이 국제마피아파 조직의 일부이고 국제마피아파와 공생해온 증거는 고스란히 영화 ‘아수라’에 들어있다. 이렇게 해서 이재명은 황정민이 되었다. 이처럼 허술한 탐사보도가 가능한 것은 제작자들이 시청자와 대중을 우습게 생각하기 때문이다. 빌 코바치와 톰 로젠스틸이 함께 쓴 ‘저널리즘의 기본원칙’(한국언론진흥재단,2014)은 미국이나 한국에서 기자 지망생이라면 반드시 읽어야 하는 언론학도의 필수 교재다. 이 책은 탐사보도에 한 장을 할애하면서 “탐사보도는 검찰이 기소를 하는 것과 비슷한 효과를 수반한다”고 말한다. 실제로 탐사보도에 오르내린 사안들은 재수사나 기소에 돌입하는 수가 많다. 바로 그렇기 때문에 “탐사보도의 기소적 차원은 더 높은 증거 수준을 요구한다.” 이 원칙이 준수되지 않을 때, 부실한 탐사보도로 순식간에 평판이 저하되거나 인격살해를 당한 피해자의 피해는 이루 복구할 수 없게 된다. 한국의 탐사보도는 작년 8월에 개봉한 다큐영화 ‘김광석’으로 이미 대형 사고를 한번 저질렀다. 탐사보도의 몫은 수사관 대신 범인을 잡는 것이 아니다. 탐사보도의 목적은 검찰과 경찰의 어떤 구조적 결함이나 비리가 수사를 망쳤는지를 따져, 같은 실수가 되풀이되는 것을 방지하는 것이다. 진범이 잡히거나 권력이 실추되는 것은 거기에 따르는 부수적 효과일 뿐이다. 이런 이해(理解)를 저버렸기에 ‘김광석’을 연출한 이상호 기자는 서해순 씨에 대한 명예훼손과 모욕혐의로 현재 검찰에 기소의견이 송치된 상태다. 이에 대해 이 기자는 “’김광석’의 제작 목적은 서씨에 대한 명예훼손이 아니라 공소시효 제도에 대한 이의제기”라고 항변한다. ‘권력과 조폭’을 연출한 이큰별 PD 역시 어느 언론과의 대담에서 “이번 방송은 특정 정치인을 공격한 것이 아니라 정치인이 주변인에 대한 경각심”을 가져야 한다는 촉구였다고 말한다. 지금 두 사람은 ‘부실한 보도나 잘못된 접근에도 공적 가치가 있다!’고 말하고 있는 셈이다. 공적가치 때문에 누군가가 희생되어야 한다는 사실은 조금도 중요치 않다. 장정일 소설가 ===== Warning: Use of undefined constant no - assumed 'no' (this will throw an Error in a future version of PHP) in /home/redtea/html/a_skin/bbsd/view.php on line 133 Warning: Use of undefined constant no - assumed 'no' (this will throw an Error in a future version of PHP) in /home/redtea/html/a_skin/bbsd/view.php on line 146 Warning: Use of undefined constant vote - assumed 'vote' (this will throw an Error in a future version of PHP) in /home/redtea/html/a_skin/bbsd/view.php on line 161 3 이 게시판에 등록된 Sargasso님의 최근 게시물 |
