* 실제 역사를 배경으로 한 사극이고 삼국지를 주제로 했기 때문에 인물 위주의 후기이며 당연히 스포일러가 대량으로 들어가있습니다. 일단 개관 부분에서는 세밀한 내용 설명은 자제하겠으나 이후 인물평에서는 그냥 스포일러 폭탄이라고 생각하시길. 이 드라마는 크게 조조의 시대와 조비의 시대로 구분할 수 있으며 한 번 더 세분화시켜 조조의 시대를 재야의 인재 사마의와 조비의 신하 사마의로 나눠볼 수 있습니다. 사마의는 쉴새 없이 정쟁에 휘말리고, 조조/조비의 칼을 피하기 위해 전전긍긍하는 상황이 반복되며 정치암투와 관련이 없는 관도대전, 적벽대전, 동관전투, 한중공방전, 형주공방전, 합비전투 등 유명 전투들이 죄다 내레이션으로 처리되거나 별 비중없이 스쳐지나갑니다. 이야기의 큰 흐름은 정사대로 흘러가지만 인물의 생몰년도를 비롯해 각색된 부분이 상당히 많습니다. 가후처럼 스토리상 중요한데도 불구하고 아예 등장조차 하지 않은 인물도 있고요. 또한 관도대전과 적벽대전 정도를 제외하면 내레이션이 직접적으로 정세를 설명해주는 게 없기 때문에 삼국지를 아예 모르는 사람이라면 형주공방전에서 도대체 관우가 누군데 저 난리야? 같은 반응을 보일 수 있습니다. 중간중간 나오는 고사 역시 설명이 없으면 이해할 수 없지만 그건 중국 문화컨텐츠 보다보면 어쩔 수 없는 문제고요. 많은 이들이 동의하겠지만 이 드라마는 조조가 죽은 뒤로는 텐션이 뚝 떨어집니다. 조조 시기의 메인테마는 조비-사마의 vs 조식-양수의 세자 책봉 싸움으로 선악 없이 생존을 위한 혈투, 개성있는 인물들의 열연이 사극이 아니라 스릴러를 보는 것처럼 쫄깃쫄깃한 맛을 선사합니다(물론 각본의 한계로 유치한 장면이 없지는 않습니다). 작품 중반에 조조가 즉고 조비가 즉위한 뒤로는 이야기의 얼개가 느슨해지며, 이기적인 친족세력 vs 청렴한 사대부세력의 이분법적 선악구도와 조잡해진 연출로 흐름이 뚝 끊겨버립니다. 여기에 백부인 에피소드는 사실상 작품을 일일시트콤 수준으로 바꿔버리고요. 아마 많은 분들이 24화 즈음에서 힘이 빠지고 30화 후반, 혹은 40화까지 흥미를 잃었을 거라 생각합니다. 이게 공식적으로는 42화까지가 1부인데 누가 보면 25화가 1부고 그 뒤가 2부라고 해도 될 정도. 그럼에도 후반부에 의미를 부여하자면 작품 전반부에서 뿌려뒀던 갈등의 씨앗 등을 어느 정도 회수했고, 또 2부 조예 시대에 벌어질 일들에 대한 떡밥을 어느 정도 살포해서 사마의가 전면에 나서는 2부를 위한 징검다리 역할을 했다고 할 수 있겠습니다. 주요 인물 사마의 - 주인공이니 이것저것 미화의 요소가 꽤 보입니다. 1부 42화까지만 보면 지모가 뛰어나지만 억울한 거 다 참고 이상과 대업을 위해 노력하는 참선비처럼 묘사됩니다. 특히 진군의 구품관인법 제정에 사마의가 아주 큰 기여를 한 것으로 나오는데 이 시기 중국사를 잘 모르는 사람이면 이게 구국의 결단인 줄 알 겁니다(물론 구품관인법의 취지는 좋았습니다만). 또한 잡혀살긴 하지만 부인 장춘화와의 금슬도 매우 좋게 나오는데 정사에는 첩을 총애하고 장춘화더러 늙었다고 구박하던 일도 있지만 여기서는 지고지순한 사랑꾼. 작중 사마의가 억울한 상황이 많이 있긴 했습니다만 그렇다 해도 아직까지는 사마의가 조위를 농단할 만한 결정적인 트리거가 나오지 않았기 때문에 이걸 2부에서 어떻게 표현하느냐가 중요한 포인트일 것 같습니다. 아 사마의 역을 맡은 배우 오수파가 50세를 바라보는 중년배우라던데 프로필을 찾아보기 전까지 전혀 몰랐습니다. 장춘화(선목장황후) - 사마의의 부인이라기보다는 거의 동반자로 매우 비중이 큽니다. 사마의-장춘화 모두 실제 역사보다 나이가 많게 나오며 장춘화가 사마사/사마소 형제를 낳는 시점도 10년 정도 빠릅니다. 그래서 원래대로는 사마의의 나이 어린 부인이어야 하는데 작중에서는 그냥 사마의와 비슷한 연배의 무시무시한 마나님 포지션이고 여기에 강호를 누비던 협객 출신이라는 설정도 붙어있습니다. 장춘화라는 캐릭터가 갖는 매력과 별개로 드라마에서의 비중은 마음에 안 들었는데 장춘화가 나왔다 하면 시트콤이나 무협으로 장르가 휙휙 바뀌거든요. 사실 사서에서 장춘화가 나오는 에피소드는 딸랑 두 개고 그거 둘 다 이미 1부에서 써먹었기 때문에 2부에서는 완전 창작 에피소드로 가득할 듯. 배우인 유도는 실제 결혼생활도 잘해서 중국에서는 국민아내 같은 이미지가 있다고 하더군요. 곽조(문덕곽황후) - 드라마에서 가장 각색이 많이 이뤄진 인물 중 하나. 장춘화와 의자매라는 설정이 생기면서 사마가문의 일원으로 등장하고, 조비와 사마가문 사이에서 도움을 주는 포지션이 됩니다. 덕분에 드라마에서의 비중이 상당히 크며 실존인물이 아니라 가상인물이라고 해도 될 정도로 역사와 다른 캐릭터(단 역사에서도 곽씨가 조비를 위해 계략을 냈다는 얘기가 있긴 합니다). 미화가 꽤 심하다고 볼 수도 있는데 한진춘추에 따르면 문소견황후를 죽이고 황후가 됐으나 작중에서는 곽조가 매우 착하고 순수한 여성에 두 사람의 사이도 매우 좋은 것으로 나옵니다. 역사에서 곽씨는 조예가 어머니의 복수를 한다고 잔인하게 죽이는데 드라마에서는 아마 조예가 나쁜 놈으로 묘사될 듯? 배우인 당예흔은 후궁견환전에 나왔었다는데 그 드라마 안 봐서 잘은 모르지만 성격이 꽤 다른가봅니다? 조조 - 신삼국의 유비였던 우화위가 조조라길래 말이 많았습죠. 신삼국의 조조였던 진건빈이 '인간 조조'였다면 우화위의 조조는 '웅 조조' 같더군요. 이건 두 배우의 차이도 있겠지만 아마 드라마에 필요한 조조라는 배역의 차이에서 나온 게 아닐까 싶습니다. 어쨌든 많은 이들이 드라마 최고의 카리스마로 조조를 꼽으며 실제로 존재감이 대단합니다. 태조왕건의 궁예와 비교하는 분들도 꽤 있는 거 같네요. 조비 - 사실상 사마의와 함께 투탑 주인공. 과장 보태서 1부의 진주인공이라고 해도 될 거 같습니다. 역사에 기록된 인간말종은 온데간데 없고 매정한 아버지와 가혹한 환경 속에서 꿋꿋이 버티고 청운의 꿈을 키워나가는 청년영웅입니다. 조비의 수많은 악행들은 대부분 드라마에 나오지 않으며 조비가 경솔하게 행동한 정의-청하공주 혼인 반대나 견복-조식에게 가혹하게 대한 것, 사마의에게 백부인과의 결혼을 강요한 것 정도? 그나마 정의는 완전 악역 포지션이기 때문에 오히려 조비의 반대가 좋은 일이 되어버렸고, 견복-조식도 조비가 무조건 나쁜 놈이라기보다는 복잡한 감정의 소용돌이 속에서 나온 일그러진 삼각관계처럼 묘사됩니다. 백부인 건은 조비가 너무했다 싶긴 한데 이건 그냥 에피소드 자체가 형편없어서... 드라마 전반부에서 조비가 너무 걸물로 나와서 쟤를 어떻게 타락시키려고 저러나 했더니 악인 대신 '삐뚤어진 군주'가 되는 방향으로 갔고, 이 과정에서 배우 이진의 연기가 너무 쩔어주더군요. 조식 - 좀 어정쩡한 캐릭터였는데 작중에서 재능있다, 인덕있다 뭐 그런 소리는 나오는데 이게 제대로 묘사된 적이 한 번도 없습니다. 드라마의 세자 다툼 전개가 조비와 조식의 능력대결이 아니라 조비가 조조에게 찍히고 조비가 험난한 상황에서 사마의의 도움으로 살아나고, 조식 패거리는 그걸 보고 있는 식이기 때문에 조식의 능력이 제대로 나오질 않아요. 그냥 술 좋아하는 한량이나 마찬가지인데 그나마 조창이 깽판 칠 때 의연한 모습 보여주는 거랑 그 유명한 칠보시 장면으로 만회하는 느낌. 견복(문소견황후) - 양수 - 사마의의 라이벌로 세설신어에 나오는 파자놀이 등 양수의 천재성을 보여주는 장면이 계속 나옵니다. 이 드라마가 각색을 많이 했지만 정사를 많이 체크하고 만들었다는 건 양수를 통해 확인할 수 있을 정도. 따지고 보면 작중에서 권력이나 무력이 아니라 지모로 사마의를 난처하게 만든 건 양수가 유일하지 싶은데(물론 모든 계략이 다 깔끔한 건 아니었습니다만) 사마문 사건 이후로 급퇴장하는 건 좀 아쉬웠습니다. 특히 그 유명한 '계륵'의 고사가 한중공방전이 아니라 형주공방전에서 나오는데 이럴 거면 왜 몇 년 더 살렸나 싶을 정도. 분량 조절이 잘 안 됐나... 순욱 - 요절로 조기하차하는 곽가, 잠깐 나오고 마는 순유와 정욱, 아예 나오지도 않는 가후-동소, 예능캐릭인 진군 등과 비교했을 때 사마의와 양수를 제외하고 가장 강렬한 문관이 순욱 아니었나 싶습니다. 한황실의 신하이자 조조의 왕좌지재인 순욱을 잘 드러낸 건 좋았는데... 순욱의 죽음은 진짜 최악이었습니다. 그렇게 멋있게 조조와 최후의 대담을 마쳐놓고 순욱의 죽음을 조비-조식 세자다툼하고 엮어버릴 줄이야... 이 부분에서 어이가 없었는데 아이러니하게도 이 계략이 작중 나온 수많은 책략 중에서 가장 잘 짜여진 계략이었다는 게 함정. 배우는 누군지 모르겠는데 삼국지6의 순욱이 생각났습니다. 이밖에 조조의 심복 곽가, 서체의 달인 종요, 강직한 만총, 말더듬이 등애, 한쪽 눈에 문제가 있는 정의 등 일단 드라마에 최소한의 비중을 갖춘 인물들은 정사에서 묘사된 개성을 잘 갖고 나옵니다. 유이한 예외는 노답 개망나니인 조홍과 슬림한 몸매에 조비의 최측근으로 발언권이 강한 조진 정도? 저도 조조사후는... 조비와 사마의, 장춘화 3인의 사랑싸움으로 버티며 봤습니다.
그리고 조비는 나쁜놈 맞습니다. 견복느님을 그렇게 보냈기때문입니다. ㅠㅠ
후에 조예가 곽조와 사마의 사이에서 어떻게 굴지 궁금하네요.
제 개인적으로 2부 예고 바둑두는 연출은 좀 오그라들었....술취한 조비가 바둑돌 던지는건 멋졌는데.
때때로 드라마 사마의란걸 되뇌이게하는 장면이나, 과하다 유치하다 느껴지는 연출도 없잖아 있었지만 전체적으로 재밌게 봤습니다. 뭔가 삼국지 섞이면 이상하게 엄근진해지다보니 ㅋㅋ조진이 저게 뭐냐!이러면서 ... 더 보기
