오늘 중앙일보 1면(+이어져서 2면에까지)에 있는 기사였는데, 평소에 관심있던 내용을 다루는 기사여서 가져와 봅니다. http://mnews.joins.com/article/21366654#home 이 기사에서 다루는 내용은 어린 아이들을 어떻게 교육시키느냐에 대한 것입니다. 1. 아이들이 같이 어울려 뛰어놀게 해서, 놀이·체험·여행 등등을 많이 시킨다. 2. 한글·영어·수학을 일찍부터 가르치게 하지 말고 아이들에게 적기(適期)에 알맞는 것을 가르치자.(적기 교육) 즉, 아이의 성장 단계와 관심에 맞춰 아이들을 제때, 제대로 가르치자. 해당 연령대에 맞는 적성과 소질을 개발시키자. 책을 읽는 능력을 가르치기 이전에 일단 책 속 그림을 보고 상상력을 키우는 훈련을 더 시킨다. 핀란드·독일·이스라엘 등등의 나라에서는 유아기에 문자를 가르치는 것이 오히려 정서·상상력 발달에 오히려 해가 된다고 판단하기 때문에 7세 이전의 아이들의 문자 교육을 일절 금지한다. 또 조기교육을 받지 않았어도 조기교육을 받은 아이들보다 언어 능력이 뒤떨어지지 않는다. 3. 현재 적기 교육을 시도하는 부모들은 온라인 커뮤니티를 통해 조직화·정보화되고 있는 추세이다. 아이를 학원을 안 보내는 대신 그 아이와 같이 뛰어놀 다른 또래 아이들을 찾아야 하기 때문에 그렇게 되는 듯. 4. 적기 교육은 지식보다 창의력, 경쟁보다는 소통을 중시하는 교육으로써, 앞으로 변화할 사회가 요구하는 인재를 만드는 데 적합한 교육이다. 5. 교육부에서도 올해부터 조기교육의 부담을 덜어주기 위해 초등학교 1학년의 한글 교육 시간을 대폭 늘리는 등등 조치를 취하고 있다. 음.. 일단 제가 이 기사에서 관심있는 포인트들은 다음과 같습니다. 1. 아이들에게 놀이·체험·여행 등등을 시키면서 자연스럽게 공부를 시키는 것은 좋은데, 이런 공부방법에는 그 아이의 부모 그리고 그 아이와 같이 놀을 다른 또래 아이들 그리고 그 아이의 주변 환경이 엄청나게 중요할 것이라고 생각해요. 그런데 과연 이 교육방법의 효과를 어떻게 극대화시킬 수 있을 것인가. 2. 아이에게 7세까지 문자 교육을 시키지 않는 것은 너무 지나치지 않을까. 물론 문자화·도식화하기 힘든 어떤 개념에 대한 유연한 학습의 중요성도 저는 상당히 인정합니다만, 문자·기호 및 수학적 논리 등등으로 인한 사고의 발달 역시 무시할 수 없다고 보는데 말이죠. 3. 부모님들이 서로 정보를 공유한다고 해서 그 정보가 꼭 올바른 것일까. 또 그 정보를 안다고 해서 그 정보대로 아이들을 교육할 역량을 갖춘다는 것은 또 별개의 문제일 것입니다. 교육 전문가의 피드백도 함께 받을 수 있으면 좋겠는데 그것이 제대로 되는지가 궁금합니다. 4. 기사의 내용대로라면 이 '적기 교육'이라는 것은, '아이의 성장·발달 단계를 무시한, 지나친 조기 교육을 하지 않는 것'이 그 목표들 중에 하나라고 할 수 있을 것도 같은데, 그러면 아이의 특정 성장·발달 단계에서 관심을 가지고 가르쳐야 할 것들로는 구체적으로 무엇무엇이 있을까? 5. 요새는 학원을 보내지 않으면 아이가 같이 놀을 다른 또래 아이들을 구하기도 쉽지 않다는데, 그래서 그런 또래 아이들을 구하기 위해서라도 같이 '적기 교육'을 하고자 하는 다른 부모들과 정보 교환 및 교류를 하는 것이겠죠. 그런데 일반적인 부모님들이 이걸 하기가 쉽지 않을 것 같습니다. 기혼자가 아니고 언어교육 전공자도 아니지만, 인간의 언어발달에 대해 상당히 흥미를 가지고 있는 사람으로서, 홍차넷 회원분들은 이 '적기 교육'이라는 것에 대해 어떻게 생각하는지 궁금합니다. 그래서 요즘 OO숲 유치원이 그렇게 인기를 끌고있죠...
아이들한테 교육보다는 숲에서 뛰놀게 만들어주는 학습..
일반 어린이집, 유치원에서도 저런 교육 프로그램을 많이 벤치마킹 하고있구요.
어린이집, 유치원 대상 업무를 하면서 원장님들을 많이 만나봤는데 확실히 저런 교육이 효과가 있다고 하긴 합니다.
그리고 말씀하신 언어적, 수학적 사고는 그렇게 중요하지 않다고 생각하는 입장에서 자연스럽게 배워나가면 충분하다고 보이구요.

아이들한테 교육보다는 숲에서 뛰놀게 만들어주는 학습..
일반 어린이집, 유치원에서도 저런 교육 프로그램을 많이 벤치마킹 하고있구요.
어린이집, 유치원 대상 업무를 하면서 원장님들을 많이 만나봤는데 확실히 저런 교육이 효과가 있다고 하긴 합니다.
그리고 말씀하신 언어적, 수학적 사고는 그렇게 중요하지 않다고 생각하는 입장에서 자연스럽게 배워나가면 충분하다고 보이구요.

그래서 요즘 OO숲 유치원이 그렇게 인기를 끌고있죠...

그냥 내 방식대로, 내 아이가 원하는걸 최대한 해주면서 키우는게 최고가 아닐까...그리 생각합니다.
