글을 썩 잘 쓰는편이 아니라(정확히 말하자면 정말 못쓰지만), 몇번 수정하겠지만 의식의 흐름에 따라 흘러가는 글이 될 가능성이 높습니다. 갓 스무살이 되었을 때 즈음의 이야기로 시작합니다. 당시 나이 있으신 어른들이 보기에는 아직 애기같은 나이였지만, 막 사회에 나온 애기의 입장에서는- 아마도 많은게 바뀌었고, 새로운 출발점이라는 신비로운 느낌을 받는 때였을겁니다. 학창시절에는 자신에 대한 생각을 하는것만도 벅차서 사회적인 어떤 일들이나, 남들에 대한 생각을 거의 하지 못하고 지냈으나 이즈음 오니 처음 접하는 많은 일들에 대해서 생각할 일이 많아지더라고요. 가령- 이제 막 들어간 회사에서 밥먹을땐 어떻게 해야 해야하는가, 동료들과의 관계는 어디까지인가 부터 시작하여 내가 부당한 대우를 당했다고 느꼈을때는 어떻게 처신해야하는가, 사회이슈들 및 정치에 대한건 어떻게 생각하는가 같은 이야기들까지요. 지금 생각하는게 정확한지는 모르겠지만 아마 그때 저는 이렇게 생각했던것 같습니다. 의식적으로든 무의식적으로든. '마주하여 생각하게 되는 어떤 안건들에 대해 매번 그때 그때 고민하지 말고- 안건들을 마주친 처음에 나의 생각과 타입(?)을 정리하고, 이후에는 설정해놓은 대로 생각하고 발언하자' 아마 너무 많은 선택과 생각을 하게되고 때로는 강요받는 현실에서 뇌 스트레스(라는게 있다면 아마..)를 줄이기 위해서 선택한 하나의 방식인 것 같습니다. 사람의 생각은 변하기 마련이고, 주변 상황에 따라 선택도 바뀔 수 있음에도 불구하고 오랜시간을 보내다 보니 뇌가 자꾸 편한 쪽으로 생각을 하려고 하더라구요. '내가 생각하는대로 발언하고 표명하자' 가 아니라 '내가 생각하기로 한대로 발언하고 표명하자'가 되어버리는 경우가 종종 생겨버리는거죠. 덕분에 꽤 오랜기간동안 벌어진 상황들에 대해 꽤 의연하게 대처할 수 있었지만.. 아마 또 많은걸 놓치고 지내오지 않았나 하는 생각이 듭니다. 지금의 저는 아마도 선입견이나 편견에 대해 굉장히 조심하고 있고, 위험하다고 생각합니다. 다들 '누가 봐도 그러네' 라고 쉽게 이야기 할때도, 그 가능성이 99%라고 해도- 항상 '아닐수도 있지'라고 하는 약간 피곤할 수도 있는 타입이라고 할까요. 그럼에도 불구하고 오래된 습관 때문인지- 어떤 상황이 되었을 때, 뇌가 알아서 쉬운길을 찾아 스스로의 결론을 내버리는 경우가 생깁니다. 제가 이성적으로 생각했을 때 가장 하기 싫은 일을 무의식적으로 하고 있는 경우지요. 이 글을 쓰고 있는 이유도 읽은 글들 중에 틀에 갇혀버리는 내용이 있었는데, 제가 조금씩 그러고 있는게 아닌가 하는 생각이 들어서 인것 같습니다. 그렇게 점점 꼰대가 되어가는건가 싶고, 그러지 않기 위해서 생각을 한번이라도 정리하고- 한번 더 조심하자는 의미로요. 나무의 가지처럼 시작은 같아도 말하고자 하는 것, 과정, 결과는 모두 다를 수 있는건데 어느샌가 쉽게 생각하려 하는 제 자신에 대해 반성합니다. 저는 살아있는 동안은 닫혀있고 싶지 않습니다. 항상 열린 생각을 하고 싶어요. 상상력을 가지고 생활하고 싶습니다. 기쁨만이 있는 삶이 아니라 희노애락이 함께 하는 꽉 찬 삶을 살고 싶어요. 이렇게 한번 더 생각하고 글을 남겨보면 조금이라도 더 다가갈 수 있겠죠? 음. 사실 제가 제일 안좋게 생각하는 정보 습득방식에 딱 맞는 예를 들어주신 것 같습니다.
정보의 실체에 접근하기 어려운 사건들에 대해 매체를 통해 정보를 접하고 바로 자신의 견해를 정리하는 것, 그리고 그것을 수정하지 않는 것에 대해 저는 굉장히 비판적으로 생각하는 편이거든요.
입수된 정보가 참이라는 보장이 없기 때문에, 자신의 견해를 정리하기전에 입수한 정보에 대한 검증을 철저히 해야 한다고 생각하는 편입니다.
그리고 그게 어렵다면, 입수한 정보 자체를 완전히 무시해버리는게 낫다라는거지요.
이렇게 글 쓰신 것 보면 그래도 로오서님은 합리적으로 사고하기 위한 나름의 노력을 많이 하고 계시는듯 합니다.
