 얼굴을 붉히다 임하댐 수몰지구에서 붉은 꽃대가 여럿 올라온 상사화를 캤다 상사화가 구근을 가진다는 것을 알고 있었지만 나는 놀랍도록 크고 흰 구근을 너덜너덜 상처 입히고야 그놈을 집에 가져올 수 있었다 아무도 없었지만 얼굴은 붉어지고 젖은 신문지 속 구근의 근심에 마음을 보태었다 깊은 토분을 골라 상사화를 심었어도 아침에 시들한 꽃대를 들여다보면 저녁에는 굳이 외면하고 말았다 여기저기 물어 비료며 살충제며 잔뜩 뿌리고 잔손을 대었지만 상사화의 꽃을 보고자 함은 물론 아니었다 살릴 수만 있다면 꽃은 아주 늦어도 대수롭잖다고 다짐했다 상사화 꽃대가 차례로 시들어갈 때 내 귀가는 늦어졌다 한밤중에 일어나 바깥의 상사화를 들여다보고 한숨쉬는 내 불안을 알아보는 식구는 없었다 나는 꽃 필 상사화에 기대어 이제는 물 아래 잠긴 땅으로 하루하루를 흘려보냈다 언젠가 이곳도 물에 잠기리라 결국 내가 시든 줄기를 토분에서 뽑아냈을 때 상사화는 그러나 완전한 구근과 수많은 잔뿌리를 토해 내었다 그 아래 두근거리는 둥근 세계가 숨어 있었으니, 시든 꽃대 대신 뾰족한 푸른 잎이 구근과 무거움을 딛고 겨울을 준비하였으니! 내 근심은 겨우 꽃의 지척에만 머물렀던 것이다 나는 얼굴을 붉히고 상사화가 스스로의 꽃대를 말라죽인 이유를 사람의 말로 중얼거려보았다 - 송재학 [푸른빛과 싸우다](2000) 중에서 - 마침표조차 찍지 않은채 임하댐 수몰지구에서 캐온 상사화의 구근을 토분에서 뽑아내고 결국 자신의 근심이 [두근거리는 둥근 세계]의 지척에만 머물렀음 고백하는 송재학의 시어는 숨가쁘기만 합니다. [사람의 말로 중얼거림]이라는 시인의 표현 속에 상사화에 대한 자신의 근심어린 '사랑'이란 결국 '사랑의 알리바이'일 뿐이라는, 즉 그가 중얼거린 '사람의 말'은 실제 '사랑'을 실어나르는 수단이 아니라 그 자체로 (쓸모없는) 사랑이라는 고백이 됩니다. 시인의 사랑은 그러므로 겨울을 준비하느라 스스로의 꽃대를 말라죽인 상사화의 둥근 세계 바깥에 있었던 것이죠. 역설적으로 상사화의 구근에게 필요했던 것은 '인간의 말'이라는 '사랑의 알리바이'가 아니라 실체를 알 수 없는 '사랑'인 것이죠. 한 철학자는 '사랑에 빠진 자, 결코 진루하지 못한다. 그것은 피폐한 게임, 황당한 예언이며, 조급한 상처일 뿐이다.'라는 말을 남겼습니다. 이 시속의 화자는 임하댐 수몰지구에서 물에 잠겨 떠내려갈 상사화를 근심하여 구근을 캐내어 왔지만 그의 사랑은 사랑의 대상을 이해함과는 다른 이야기입니다. 화자는 일상과 상사화 구근에서 꽃대가 올라와 꽃을 피우는 소실점 사이에서 진자처럼 왔다갔다 하다가 결국 소실점이 사라지는 공포를 견디지 못하고 구근을 뽑아내고야 말죠. 매혹됨과 쫓김, 우리는 사랑을 앞에두고 얼마나 오랫동안 이런 원근법의 실수를 저지르는 것일까요? 송재학은 타고나길 시인으로 타고났다는 생각이 듭니다. 특히나 마지막 행의 '사람의 말로 중얼거려보았다'라는 절망스런 자기고백은 숨을 턱 막히게 할 정도의 절창입니다. 사랑의 대상 앞에서 우리의 근심은 겨우 지척에만 머무르고 있지는 않은지요. 언어로 표현되지 않고, 도저히 표현할 수 없는 그(녀)의 둥근 세계 앞에서 우리는 사람의 말로 근심하며, 조급한 상처를 불러내고 있지는 않은가 생각해봅니다. * Toby님에 의해서 리뷰 게시판으로부터 게시물 이동되었습니다 (2015-07-01 11:50) * 관리사유 : 리뷰게시판을 내리면서 자유게시판으로 게시글 이동합니다. 노래를 듣거나 시를 읽을때 유독 가슴에 와닿으며 화자의 심상이 떠오르는 것들이 있는가 하면 그렇지 않은 시와 노래도 많더라구요. 그런데 또 시간이 지나서 다시 접했을때는 또다른 느낌으로 절절히 다가오는 경우가 있어 깜짝 놀래기도 했었습니다.

노래를 듣거나 시를 읽을때 유독 가슴에 와닿으며 화자의 심상이 떠오르는 것들이 있는가 하면 그렇지 않은 시와 노래도 많더라구요. 그런데 또 시간이 지나서 다시 접했을때는 또다른 느낌으로 절절히 다가오는 경우가 있어 깜짝 놀래기도 했었습니다.
