MBTI 테스트 이야기가 나와서 잠시 호기심을 채울겸해서 찾아보았어요. 저는 어제 MBTI 테스트를 한국어로 해보고 바로 재미삼아서 영어로 MBTI 제 유형에 대해서 추가 검색을 해보았는데요. 영어페이지들 내용은 주로 저한테 맞는 직업과 관련된 이야기들이 많이 차지하고 있었서 잠깐 코멘트를 타임라인에 직업과 관련해서 담았는데, 국내 이용자분들은 주로 본인의 성격유형에 대해서 많이 이야기하셔서 미묘한 차이점이 살짝보였어요. 그래서 좀 더 왜 그럴까 찾아보았는데요. MBTI(Myers-Briggs Type Indicator)는 C.G.Jung의 성격유형 이론을 근거로 미국인 모녀 Catherine C.Briggs와 Isabel Briggs Myers에 의해 연구 개발된 인간이해를 위한 성격유형검사이라고 하는데요. 인간이해를 위하여 상당히 과학적이라고 이야기된다면 왜 심리학이나 학문적으로 과학적으로 크게 이야기되는 걸 들어본적이 없는가 궁금하기도 해서 중간점검을 해보았어요. http://www.edumost.co.kr/ab-2046-44&PB_1393809429=6&OTSKIN=layout_ptr.php?ckattempt=1 구글링하니, 국내사이트들은 대부분, " MBTI는 그 동안 카운슬링, 심리치료 등에 유용한 도구로 사용되어 왔으며, 1980년대에 들어와서는 많은 기업들이 인사관리. 인력개발, 조직개발 등 다양한 분야에 활용하여 좋은 결과를 얻고 있다. " http://cafe.daum.net/_c21_/bbs_search_read?grpid=T8ar&fldid=SJ7&datanum=13 "MBTI검사는 심리검사의 사용을 보다 전문적인 견지에서 인간이해의 올바른 도구로 사용해야 할 필요성 때문에 MBTI전문가 교육과정을 이수하여야만 구입하여 활용할 수 있습니다. 현재 MBTI 한국어판은 대학의 학생생활 연구소 및 청소년 상담기관, 기업체 연수원 등에서 MBTI전문가 교육과정을 이수한 전문가들에 의하여 검사가 실시되고 해석되고 있으며, 일반인들은 이를 통해 자신 및 타인에 대한 이해정도를 높이는데 도움을 받을 수 있습니다." 위의 링크를 보면 우리나라에 MBTI 가 들어간 배경과 상담서비스 등에 쓰임을 알아볼 수 있는데요. 그래서 궁금해서 심리학과 관련 전문가에게 실제 심리상담서비스에서 어떻게 사용되는지 여쭤보았어요. 저도 심리학 수업들을때 크게 이론으로 중요시하게 이야기되는걸 본적도 없고요. 그 분 이야기에 따르면, 실제로 미국의 심리상담서비스에서는 거의 사용되지 않는다고 하네요. 덧붙여서, 미국에서 주로 MBTI 테스트가 쓰이는 곳은 직장에서 직원들의 팀관리, 조직관리, 리더쉽, 매니저 트래이닝 등을 위해서 쓰인다고 하네요. 한국회사도 그렇겠지만 Fortune 100 회사들이 직원들 생산성 향상을 위해서 여러가지 툴등을 통해서 직원평가나 직원 트래이닝을 하는 중에 쓰이나봅니다. 결국에 이 테스트가 유명해진 이유는 MTBI certificate 으로 전문교육 수료증을 딴 사람들의 생계를 위해서, MTBi 연구소에서 또 다른 용도로는 기업에 팔기위해서 reliable 하다고 선전을 하고 해서 기업에서 많이 쓰이고 있지만 실제로 심리학자나 인지과학자들은 이 테스트는 신뢰도도 떨어져서 상담심리에서는 쓰이지 않는다고 합니다. 저도 재밌게 보고 맞네 맞다 하면서 보기는 했기에 기업에서 쓰이구나 그래서 내가 본 자료들이 회사관련 성격과의 매칭이 있었는데 그래서였구나 하는 개연성을 발견했어요. 마지막으로 와튼스쿨의 심리학교수 아담그랜트가 컨펌을 해주네요. 이 테스트가 아직까지도 인터넷에 떠도는 이유는...하면서요. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/adam-grant/goodbye-to-mbti-the-fad-t_b_3947014.html 아담그랜트의 또 다른 테드쇼 재밌네요.
