1. 영화에 대한 배경지식이라곤 곰이 나오는데 존재감이 쩐다, 디카프리오가 나온다, 이게 전부였습니다. 부제가 죽음에서 돌아온 사람이라길래 현실과 판타지가 잘 섞인 현대 서바이벌 영화인가 했는데 알고 봤더니 19세기 북미가 배경인 복수극이더군요. 시놉시스에도 복수극이라고 되어 있던데 미처 몰랐으요... 2. 북미의 대자연을 고대로 담아와서 영상미는 진짜 끝내줍니다. 근데 아름다운 영화는 결코 아닌 것이 유혈이 낭자하고 꽤나 고어물입니다. 주변에서 잔인하다 징그럽다 끔찍하다 이런 멘트 계속 터져나오고 같이 봤던 동생녀석도 이렇게 잔인할 거라고는 예상 못했다더군요. 여자친구랑 보러 가실 분들은 한 번 더 고려해보시길 바랍니다. 저는 같이 안 보길 잘했다 싶거든요. 3. 디카프리오가 드디어 아카데미를 받니 마니 하던데 그럴만 하더군요. 단지 연기 잘하는 걸 넘어서 '이렇게까지 했는데 인간적으로 줘야되는 거 아닌가' 싶을 정도. '스티브 잡스'의 패스벤더가 어느 정도로 연기를 잘했는지는 모르겠지만 디카프리오가 받지 않을까 싶네요. 단, 연기 자체로는 감독의 전작인 '버드맨'의 마이클 키튼이 더 잘했다고 생각합니다. 4. 디카프리오 외에 인상적인 배우라면 역시 톰 하디입니다. 하디 역시 아카데미 조연상으로 후보에 올랐다던데 디카프리오에 묻힌 게 아쉬울 정도. 캐릭터 자체의 매력으로는 오히려 이쪽이 더 낫지 않나 싶습니다. 주인공 휴 글래스는 처절하지만 다소 뻔하디 뻔한 복수귀인데 반해 스콧 피츠제럴드는 상당히 입체적인 악역이더군요. 캐릭터만 놓고 보면 역시나 뻔한 캐릭터이긴 한데 하디가 캐릭터를 잘 소화했다 싶었습니다. 5. 음악도 좋더군요. 시각적으로도 청각적으로도 영화의 주제가 '그래비티' 같은 생존극이었으면 감동의 도가니였을 거에요.
