얼마 전부터 넷플릭스가 한국 서비스를 시작했습니다. 넷플릭스는 온라인에서 영화나 드라마를 제공하는 서비스인데요. 미국 시장에서 대성공을 거두면서 이제는 넷플릭스에서만 볼 수 있는 작품이 쏟아질 정도가 되었습니다. 이건 현재진행형으로 지금도 대성공을 거두고 후속 시즌이 계속 만들어지는 드라마들도 많죠. 제가 알고 있는 건, 마블 코믹스 원작의 데어데블이나 케빈 스페이시 주연의 하우스 오브 키드 정도네요. 이 넷플릭스가 국내에 상륙하면서 개인적으론 고맙게도 1달 동안 무료 시청을 제공하고 있습니다. 2월 초까지인 걸로 알고 있고, 간단하게 회원 가입에 성공한 후에야(대신 시청이 간단하질 않았는데, 제가 쓰고 있는 브라우저인 파이어폭스에서 오류가 발생해서 한참 씨름하다가 크롬으로 갈아타서 볼 수 있었습니다.) 직접 감상해볼 수 있었네요. 처음 선택한 건 이드리스 엘바 주연의 영화인 '비스트 오브 노 네이션'였습니다. 국내에 개봉을 안 한 걸로 알고 있고, 해외에서도 극소수의 극장에서만 방영한 거로 알고 있는데요. 아프리카 내전의 소년병이 주인공인 영화고, 영화의 초반부만 봐도 넷플릭스 개봉이 아니면 볼 기회가 없었겠구나 싶은 생각이 절로 들더군요. 2시간가량의 영화를 보고 착잡해서 늦은 밤에 그대로 잠들었고요. 이 영화에 대해서도 길게 이야기를 나눠도 좋을 것 같지만, 제가 영화에는 많이 무지해서 뭐라 표현해야 할지 모르겠군요. (지금은 성인이면 누구나 무료로 보실 수 있으니 직접 찾아가서 보셔도 좋지 않을까 싶습니다) 하여튼 긴 호흡의 드라마는 아직 건드리지 않고 있고, 제가 못 본 영화만 찾아서 보고 있습니다. 특히 꽤 노력하지 않으면 찾아보기 힘든 영화들 위주로요. 생각나면 드라마도 찾아볼까 하는데 다른 분들도 넷플릭스 (몇몇 분들은 국내 서비스 이전부터 보시기도 했겠지만요.) 어떠신가요?
