너무 부정적으로 보는 건지 모르겠지만서도... 많은 이들이 스스로 열심히 노력하고 배우고 배우고 배운 것에 대해서 생각하는 이는 많은데 여전히... 그 배운것을 실제로 실 생활에 응용하는 사람이 별로 없다고 생각해요. 한 예를 들어서, 자동차를 타면서 여러분들이 운전하시는 모습을 보았는데요. 주로 여자분들이 많았겠지만서도... 자동차의 A/C 의 기능이나 히터나 바람 나오는 세기 조절하는 법 등을 변화하는 환경에 맞춰서 적시적때에 신경써서 조절하는 사람들을 거의 찾아볼 수가 없었어요. 제가 아이들을 키우며 지켜본 바에 의하면, 창의력은 자신이 배운것을 실제로 응용하는 힘에서 나오는 거라 보는데요. 획일적으로 공교육이나 사교육과정을 통해서 배운 후에 개개인이 스스로 머릿속으로 개념을 정리한 이후에 "실생활에서 맥가이버처럼 응용해야 하는데" 우리나라에서는 응용하는 교육? 이 결여되어있는것 같아요. 그것마저도 사회에서 가르쳐줘야하는 것 같은데요. 원래대로라면, 배웠다면, 스스로 생각해서 추론하고 일을 진행시켜야하는데 일을 진행하는 걸 하나하나 누군가에게 배우지 않으면 혼자서는 못하는거지요. 결국에 위에서 시키는 대로 해야 하는 거지요. 혼자서 찾아서 일을 하면 야단을 맞기도 하고...시키는 대로 안했다고.. 반대로 배운이후에 스스로 깨쳐서 응용을 잘 하는 이들은 맥가이버로 불리면서 그걸 어떻게 다 하지 하고 우리는 신기해하며 보고 있지요. 다큐의 인재들이 학습에 있어서 뛰어난 재능을 가졌음은 부정할 수 없지만, 그 배운이후에 스스로 응용을 잘할런지는 의문이에요. A+ 가 중요한 것이 아니라 자신이 배운 학문을 체계적으로 가치관 정립에 쓰든지 현장에서 경험을 하면서 이론을 적용하여 실제 적용을 하든지 실생활에 적응을 하든지 했다면 이렇게 사회가 부패하지는 않았을 것이고 개인들이 개인 스스로만을 위해서 살지는 않을거라고 봐요. 학문에서 도를 이야기하고 인을 이야기하며 공동체의 중요성이라든가 배려라든가 중요한 이야기들을 끊임없이 이야기하는데 그러한 것들을 실 생활에 적용시키거나 연계시키는 이들을 만나기가 매운 어려운 것 같아요. 저 만의 착각이겠지만서두요. 적용 Apply 혹은 implementation 의 중요성이 간과되고 있는 것이지요. 일본과 독일처럼 장인들이 대우받는 곳... 우리나라는 손재주로는 어느 나라에 부럽지 않을터인데 그런 장인들이 대우받지 못하고 이렇게 문인들 화이트컬러만 대우받는 사회로써는 다른 나라들과 경쟁력에서 우위에 서기가 어렵다고 생각해요. 아이들이 배우고 배운 것을 기반으로 생각하고 그리고 집에 앉아서 뭔가를 만들고 부수고 또 만들고 망치질도 했다가 쇠톱으로 부셔도 보았다가 흙으로도 만들어보았다가 동물에게 먹이도 주고 마당에서 야채도 길러보고 먹거리 중요성도 길러서 알게되고 이런 삶의 행위들을 우리나라 많은 어린이들이 단지 책에서만 배우고 있을 때에 그리고 그건 크게 공부하는데서 중요치 않아라고 할 때에.. 미국에서는 집에서 마당에서 흔하게 하고 자동차도 아빠따라서 오일체인지 하고 머플러도 갈고 페인트칠도 집에서 몇년마다 안팎으로 부모님따라 도와가면서 칠하고 운동도 종류대로 골라가면서 자기 하고 싶은데로 하면서 자라다가 중요한 아이디어가 나오고 창의적인 아이디어가 나오는데요. 사실 어렵지 않거든요. 우리도 관심만 있다면 충분히 할 수 있다고 생각해요. 집집마다 문을 열고 들어서면 어느집이나 똑같은 모습입니다. 심지어 책장 책상 책 부엌... 획일적인 곳... 나의 색깔 나의 냄새를 느낄 수 없는 곳 경쟁력은 다름에서 다양성에서 출발한다고 생각합니다. 나만이 할 수 있는 일, 우리만이 할 수 있는 일이 많아질때 다른 나라에서도 관심을 가질 것이고 아...쟤네 뭐야? 사고 싶어...쟤네것을 가지고 싶어..이런 이야기가 나오겠지요. 그럴려면... 남들과 똑같은 길을 가서 똑같은 음식을 먹기 보다는 내가 만든 음식 내가 만들어본 음식 내가 만들어본 물건을 모양은 엉성하지만 더 느리게 가는 것 같겠지만서도 그렇게 가다보면 특이한 물건이 나오고 경쟁력있는 상품이 나오지 않을까 싶습니다. 가볍게 읽고 있는 이토 모토시게 교수가 쓴 책에 나오는 한 구절이 맘에 와 닿네요. 이게 참.. 배운걸 습득하고 활용해야 하는데.. 우리나라에서는 남들과 다른 모습,다른 태도, 다른 사고방식을 보이면 일단 배척하더군요.
제가 가장 크게 느꼇던건 20대 중반에 장사를 시작했을 때 손님(이라고 쓰고 진상이라고 읽는)한테 \'어린놈이 뭘 안다고 장사를 해? 니네 부모도 어지간하다.\' 라는 말을 육성으로 눈 앞에서 들었을 때였습니다. \'어리면 판단도, 행동도 못하는가? 내가 할 수 있는걸 하겠다는데 왜 저런 소리를 듣는거지? 잘못한것도 없는것 같은데?\' 라는 생각이 들자마자..

제가 피부로 느꼇던 현실은 \'우리나라는 다양성을 존중한다고 말은 하지만 진짜 다양성은 인정하려 들지 않는다\'는 것이었습니다. 대부분의 기성세대들은 쟁점에 대해 제 의견을 근거를 대서 내면 \'어른에 대한 도전\'이라고 생각하며 듣는 이야기의 대부분은 \'사회생활에 대해 알지도 못하는 어린놈이 뭘 안다고 지껄여?\'라고들 많이 하더라구요.
그나마도 저희 부모님 같은 경우에는 생각의 다양성을 좀 많이 인정하는 편이시라 설득을 하면 반은 먹힙니다.(..) 반은 어쩔수가 없더군요.
창의력을 인정하고 도전할 수 있게 해야 창업을 하고 그게 성공을 향하고 부강하게 되고 다시 재투자하고.. 이런 선순환이 될 텐데, 아직도 뭔가를 도전한다 하면 \'돈도 안되는거 뭐하러 쓸데없는 짓에 시간을 버리냐\'라는 말만 되돌아오니 생각대로 하기 어려운 면이 분명히 있지요..
