우선 호소다 마모루 감독의 이전 작품에 대한 제 감상부터 밝히자면, 시달소: 오타쿠적 요소가 들어가 있다는 지적은 맞다고 생각하지만, 기본적으로 무척이나 멋진 애니메이션이었습니다. 섬머워즈: 쓰래기. 늑대아이: 가족애가 주제라고 해서 재미없어 보였는데, 막상 보고나니 막 으허헣허헝 감동이 막 흐허헝 그리고 괴물의아이는, 무려 섬머워즈보다도 재미없었어요... 작중에 '어둠'이라는게 등장하는데, 글쎄요... 무대가 수인, 괴물들의 땅이긴 하지만, 사실 마법같은게 등장하는 세계관은 아니거든요. 그런데다가 이런 요소를 던져놓으니 무지하게 어색해졌습니다. 전체적인 개연성도 부족하고요. 이오젠의 아이도 인간인데, 쿠마테츠가 큐타를 제자로 들일때 왜 그렇게까지 반대했는지 잘 이해가 안갑니다. 그리고 큐타가 쿠마테츠 싸움 한번 보고 바로 제자로 들어가는 것도 이상하고... 작중 격투신은 호쾌하긴 한데, 또 재패니메이션 특유의 오글거림은 멈출 수가 없고... 하여튼, 안보시는 편을 추천합니다. 저 개인적인 감상으로는.
