조각글 재밌게 보고 있습니다. 저도 욕심이 생기지만 매주마다 글을 쓸 정도의 여유가 없으니 열심히 읽기만 하고 있네요. ㅠ 가끔씩이라도 제 글 쓰면 되니 ( '-'); ------------------------- 노론과 소론의 균형을 원하고 그들 중 탕평파를 중용했지만, 영조의 정통성이 노론에 있는 이상 노론으로 흐를 수밖에 없었습니다. 시간이 지나면서 노론의 역은 사라지고 소론의 역만 남으면서 소론은 당파로서의 힘을 잃어갔죠. 남은 이들이야 여전히 많았지만 수에 밀렸고 노론 강경파에게공격받기 일쑤였습니다. 결국 노론을 견제할 수 있는 건 노론 탕평파였죠. 왕의 뜻을 따르는 노론들도 많았지만, 그들을 이끄는 건 척신이었습니다. 탕평의 끝이 척신 정치가 된 것이었죠. 필연적인 면이 있죠. 영조의 탕평은 각 당의 의리보다 나라를 생각하는 자들을 뽑는 것, 다시 말 하면 왕의 뜻을 따르는 자들을 뽑는 것입니다. 왕의 뜻을 가장 잘 따를 자들이야 뻔한 거 아니겠습니까. 괜히 외척이 날뛰고 환관이 날뛰는 게 아닙니다. 왕의 측근인만큼 그들을 믿을수밖에 없게 되는 것이죠. 탕평의 목적이 왕권 강화인 이상 척신이 중용될 수밖에 없었죠. 영조가 너무 오래 살았고, 그 동안 너무 시달린 것도 있었습니다. 재위 삼십년이 넘고 나이 육십이 넘도록 노론 강경파는 탕평을 거부했고 소론 강경파는 반역을 저질렀으니까요. 이런 점에서 보면 이해가 갈 만도 합니다. -_-; 뭐 그렇다고 이들이 훗날의 세도정치처럼 막 나간 것도 아니었고, 영조는 아무리 늙어도 선을 넘는 권력까지 주지는 않았습니다. 하지만 영조가 늙어갈수록 척신에 힘이 크게 간 건 큰 문제였죠.  탕평파를 이끌면서 영조의 신임을 받은 것은 홍봉한, 세자의 장인이었습니다. 세자가 문제 일으킬 때마다 쫓겨나기를 반복했지만 영조는 계속 그를 신임했고, 세자가 죽은 후에 권력은 더 커집니다. 좋게 말하면 나라를 위해 가족을 희생했다는 동지애, 나쁘게 말하면 공범의식이 있었을 겁니다. 아래에서 말할 다툼 끝에 홍봉한을 잠시 내쳤는데, 그 때 한유라는 자가 홍봉한을 강하게 탄핵하면서 그의 죄 중 하나를 꺼냅니다. '일물(一物)을 가져온 죄' 말이죠. 어떤 물건이 뭐겠습니까. 영조는 이 일물이 뭐냐고 따져묻다가 분노하면서 그를 죽입니다. 이렇게 말하면서요. "일물을 가져온 건 그지만 쓴 건 내가 아니냐!" 나라를 위해 자식을 버린 아버지와 사위를 버린 장인... 그 둘의 연계가 어땠는지를 알 수 있는 부분입니다. 말 나온 김에 저번에 올렸어야 할 부분을 옮겨봅니다. "세자가 이 지경에 이른 것을 온 세상이 다 알고 있다. 경은 오로지 병 때문이라고 하나 나는 오로지 병 때문만은 아닌 듯하다. 그러나 병도 또한 광기이며 광기도 또한 병이니 병과 광기 때문에 온전한 도리를 잃고 변도 없잖아 있어서 점차 오늘에 이르게 되었다. 내가 몸소 말하기 어려운 위태로움이 경각에 닥치게 되었으니 진실로 두려움이 느껴진다. 나의 몸이야 비록 돌아볼 것이 없으나 종사와 국가에는 어찌 하겠으며 백성들에게는 어찌 하겠는가? 혹시 정리에 구애되어 참고 견디어 결말을 짓지 않고 그 말로 하기 어려운 변란이 일어나는 데 맡겨둔다면 동방의 신하와 백성들이 장차 그 질병과 광기 때문이라고 하여 용납할 수 있겠는가? (중략) 그런즉 삼종의 혈맥은 보전하지 못할 것이요, 4백 년 종사도 또한 누구에게 맡길 것인가? (중략) 변란의 기미가 이미 급박하고 위태로운 염려가 극에 달했으니 부득이 만고에 없던 일을 행할 수 밖에 없었다. (중략) 내가 어찌 자애롭지 않아서 그랬겠으며 내가 어찌 참지 못해서 그랬겠는가? 진실로 종사를 위한 것이요 백성을 위한 것이었다." "이제 내가 처분을 내린 뒤에는 (중략) 내 몸이 편안함을 얻었고 종사가 안전함을 얻었으며, 뒷날 나를 이어 국가를 다스릴 사람도 그의 자손이다. 설령 가버린 사람이 그 몸을 위해서 따진다 하더라도 살아서 저와 같이 될 바에는 차라리 죽어서 이와 같이 되는 것이 낫지 않겠느냐? (중략) 비록 그 자손일지라도 이 어려운 위기를 마음 속으로 생각해보고 부득이한 고심을 깊이 유념해 보면 속으로는 애통함이 있겠지마는 도리로써 헤아려 본다면 오늘의 처분을 감히 나무라지는 못할 것이니, 이것이 어찌 만세의 임금은 임금답고 신하는 신하다우며 아버지는 아버지답고 자식은 자식다운 하늘의 법도와 땅의 올바름을 정한 것이 아니겠느냐?" 병 때문이라 하나 세자가 왕이 돼서 막장이 되면 백성들이 병 때문이라고 이해해 주겠는가, 세자를 죽인 건 나라를 위한 것이다, 그리고 그 뒤를 이어 왕이 될 것도 세자의 자식이다, 고맙게 생각해야 할 것이고 결정을 바꾸면 안 될 것이다... 뭐 이런 말이죠. 저게 영조가 홍봉한한테 한 말로 홍봉한은 저 말을 그대로 옮겨서 상소를 하면서 자기는 그 말을 나라를 위해 울면서 따랐고 왕의 말은 백 번 옳고 자기는 그것을 따른 충신이다... 뭐 이렇게 말 합니다. 그로서는 당연한 선택이겠죠. 그것이 영조의 말을 따라서 한 것이고 자기는 충성을 다 한 것이다는 걸 인증받아야 했거든요. 영조는 확실하게 인증해 주고요. 그러고도 한유의 예처럼 그 일로 공격받습니다. 만약 그 사건이 재평가 된다면, 영조의 죄라 할 수 없으니 그 죄는 온전히 홍봉한이 받을 것입니다. 그로서는 어쩔 수 없는 거였죠. 그 대가로 그는 최고의 권력을 누립니다. 그가 내세운 게 하나 더 있었죠. 자라나고 있는 세손의 보호자였습니다. 어이없지만, 거기 가장 어울리는 신하도 그였구요. 어차피 세손이 기댈 건 아비를 죽인 할아버지와 그걸 도운 외할아버지밖에 없었으니까요. 이렇게 승승장구하던 홍봉한, 하지만 시간이 흐르면서 강한 도전에 부닥칩니다. 척신정치 타파를 주장하는 노론 소장파였죠. 김종수, 심환지 등으로 이루어진, 자칭 '청명당'이었습니다. 이들은 홍봉한의 탕평파를 강하게 공격했고, 같은 목소리를 내는 자들과 힘을 합칩니다. 에 근데 그게... 정순왕후의 오라비 김귀주였습니다. 네 역시 척신이었죠. +) 흥미로운 건 청명당을 이끈 김종수나 세손의 최측근 홍국영이나 처가 친가로 홍봉한과 연결돼 있었다는 거 -.-a  정순왕후가 영조의 총애를 입으면서 그녀의 가족들도 정계에 진출합니다. 그냥 시간이 흐른다면 당연히 김씨가 더 힘을 얻을수밖에요. 홍봉한은 김귀주의 벼슬을 올려달라 청하면서 그들과 타협을 하려 합니다. 이 때 영조가 거절하면서 한 말이 "마누라가 자기 가족에게 큰 벼슬 주지 말라더라고~" (...) 이렇게 나오니 김씨가 더 힘을 얻어갈 수밖에 없죠. 김귀주는 곧 청명당과 함께 홍봉한을 탄핵합니다. 홍봉한의 반격도 이어져서 양쪽이 한번씩 물갈이되기도 했죠. 이게 본격화 된 것이 영조 47~48년이었습니다. 그런데 이 때 김귀주가 내세운 명분이 좀 볼만하죠. "몇 해 전에는 사사로이 세손을 만나보고 이에 후일 번안(일을 뒤집는 것)할 논의를 발설하여 감히 면전에서 협박할 모의를 이루려 했었는데, 세손 저하께서 깊이 그 간사함을 살피시고 얼굴빛을 바꾸지 않으시며 침묵으로 말씀을 하지 않아 엄히 배척하는 뜻을 드러내어 보이시자, 홍봉한이 분함을 이기지 못하고 마침내, ‘저하께서 만약 내 말을 듣지 않으면 마땅히 이러이러하게 될 것입니다.’라고 한 것은 바로 국본(國本)을 흔들려는 말입니다. (중략) 저 홍봉한이란 자는 전하의 정승으로 있고 세손의 외척인데도 무슨 마음으로 우리 전하를 원수로 여기어 삼다의 사용을 막았으며 우리 춘궁을 협박하여 나라의 근본을 뒤흔들고 있습니까?" - 1772년, 영조 48년 7월 21일 이 때 김귀주가 내건 세 가지 죄목 중 두 가지는 영조가 아픈데 좋은 약재를 쓰는 걸 반대했다 (삼다 부분이 그거죠) 는 것 두 개와 세손을 협박했다는 거였습니다. 그러면서 자기가 세손의 보호자니 자기를 까면 곧 세손을 까는 것이다는 말을 했다고 합니다. 영조는 김귀주의 예상과는 다른 반응을 보입니다. 홍봉한이 잘 했으면 이런 말을 들었겠냐면서 파직하지만, 김귀주는 망발을 했다면서 파직, 먼저 총대를 멘 김관주(정순왕후와 김귀주의 아버지 김한구의 사촌 김한록의 아들입니다)를 갑산으로 귀양보냅니다. 우선 이 일을 외척간의 다툼인 걸 알고 양 쪽 다 자른 거지만 김씨 쪽에 더 죄를 준 것이죠. 이렇게 홍봉한과 김귀주 둘 다 물러난 상황, 그 뒤를 이은 건 홍봉한의 이복동생 홍인한과 정후겸이었습니다.  화완옹주는 정치달에게 시집갔지만 자식 없이 남편이 죽습니다. 사도세자와도 친했던 그녀는 세손이 궁에 돌아오자 자기 자식처럼 집착합니다. 겸상을 했을 정도니 알만하죠. (혜경궁은 그 때 궁 밖에 있었습니다) 하지만 정후겸을 양아들로 들인 후 그에게 애정을 쏟게 되구요. 영조가 아끼던 딸의 양아들인만큼 정후겸은 승승장구했고, 홍씨와 손을 잡습니다. 뒤의 일들을 보면 그 전에 김귀주와도 한 번 손을 잡은 걸로 보입니다. 홍봉한의 동생과 화완옹주의 양아들... 이들에게 큰 권력을 준 걸 보면 영조도 갈 때까지 간 걸 알 수 있습니다. 이 때가 영조 48년, 그의 나이 69세 때였습니다. 그 후 영조가 죽기까지 이들의 세상이었죠. 청명당은 당연히 이들과도 맞섭니다. 하지만 이들과 가장 맞선 이가 있었으니 바로 세손이었습니다. -------------------------------------------- 영조 51년 말, 드디어 결단을 내립니다. 세손에게 대리청정을 맡긴다는 거였습니다. 대리청정, 진짜 지긋지긋한 말입니다. -_-; 하지만 이번에는 정치적인 이유가 아니었습니다. 정말 필요해서 한 말이었죠. "나라 일을 생각하느라고 밤에 잠을 이루지 못한 지가 오래 되었다. 어린 세손이 노론을 알겠는가? 소론을 알겠는가? 남인을 알겠는가? 소북을 알겠는가? 국사(나라의 일)를 알겠는가? 조사(조정의 일)를 알겠는가? 병조 판서를 누가 할 만한가를 알겠으며, 이조 판서를 누가 할 만한가를 알겠는가? 이와 같은 형편이니 종사를 어디에 두겠는가? 나는 어린 세손으로 하여금 그것들을 알게 하고 싶으며, 나는 그것을 보고 싶다. 옛날 나의 황형(경종) 은 ‘세제가 가(可)한가? 좌우(左右)가 가한가?’라는 하교를 내리셨는데, 지금의 시기는 황형이 계실 때에 비하여 백 배가 더할 뿐이 아니다." +) 죽기 직전까지 형 얘기를 하는 센스 -.-a 이 때 홍인한은 강경한 모습을 보여줍니다. "동궁은 노론이나 소론을 알 필요가 없고, 이조 판서이나 병조 판서를 알 필요도 없습니다. 더욱이 조사까지도 알 필요 없습니다." 당파도, 인사도, 조사도 알 필요 없다. 세 가지를 알 필요가 없다고 한 삼불필지(三不必知)였죠. 스스로를 죽음으로 이끈 네 글자였습니다. 홍인한을 필두로 강경한 반대가 계속되자 영조는 분노합니다. 그러고도 열흘 후 다시 이 일을 꺼내는데 이번에도 마찬가지였죠. 영조는 분노해서 '니들이랑 일 못하겠다! 차라리 길가에 장승에 물어보고 말지!'라고 맞섭니다. 이 때 영조는 방 안에서 누워서 말을 하고, 숨을 고르느라 시간을 둘 정도로 몸이 좋지 않은 상태였습니다. 그런데도 반대를 한 거죠. 보다 못한 영조가 승지에게 명령을 받아 적게 합니다. 하지만 홍인한은 승지들 앞을 막아서서 이 전교를 쓰지 못 하게 했고, 다 받아 쓴 줄 안 영조가 읽어보라고 하자 '감히 들을 수 없는 전교를 신자된 자로 누가 감히 읽겠습니까?'라고 했죠. 이렇게 방해를 받고도 영조는 밀어붙입니다. 대리는 안 된다 하니 대신 이런저런 일들은 세손에게 맡기겠다는 것인데, 그게 거의 대리 수준의 일이었죠. 군사를 부리는 일부터 인사 문제, 상소에 대한 답, 결재까지 맡긴 거였으니까요. 영조는 진심이었습니다. 당연하죠. 세손이었는데요. 이게 영조 51년 11월 30일의 일입니다. 홍인한부터 신하들의 반대는 이해 못 할 게 아닙니다. 태종, 선조, 영조 등 대리청정부터 양위는 신하들의 충성을 확인하는 행위였고 반대가 당연했습니다. 거기다 경종-영조, 영조-사도세자 대리청정이 얼마나 큰 비극을 낳았습니까. 혜경궁은 홍인한의 이런 행동 역시 세손을 보호하기 위한 거였다고 적습니다. 하지만... 3일 후 꽤나 큰 상소가 들어오죠. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12월 3일, 상소의 주인공은 소론 서명선이었습니다. 영조는 중신들 앞에서 직접 그걸 읽게 합니다. 그냥 듣기만 하는 게 아니라 중간중간 구절을 짚으며 그것이 무슨 뜻이냐, 누가 말한 것이냐 물으면서 자기 생각을 말하죠. "(상소 구절 중 '알게 할 필요 없다'는 구절을 묻자) 신이 듣건대, 지난달 20일 성상께서 하교하시기를, ‘누구는 무슨 색이고, 어떤 사람은 무슨 관직에 맞는가를 마땅히 세손으로 하여금 알게 하여 조정의 일을 익숙히 알게 해야 한다.’라고 하셨는데, 홍인한이 대답하기를, ‘이런 일들은 동궁께서 알게 할 필요가 없습니다.’라고 하였다고 합니다. ‘동궁이 이를 알게 할 필요가 없다.’라고 한 것이 과연 말이나 되며 아래에 있는 사람으로 감히 이런 말을 할 수 있겠습니까?" 이런 식의 말들이었습니다. 명백히 홍인한을 공격하는 소였고, 영조는 이를 찬성한 것이죠. 그러면서 신하들에게 묻지만 홍인한을 두려워한 신하들은 말을 돌리기만 급급했습니다. 보다 못한 영조가 '말 돌리지 말고 옳고 그른지만 말하라'고 다그치기까지 했죠. 그렇게 하면서 서명선은 숨겨두었던 말을 꺼냅니다. 그 때 세손이 상소를 올리려 했는데 올리지 못 했다고 말이죠. 그제야 영조는 그 상소를 들이라고 합니다. 홍국영 등 세손의 관원들이 가저오죠. "내가 비록 노쇠했으나 태아검이 손에 있으니 어찌 이런 무리들의 제재를 받겠는가?" 태아검은 왕의 상징입니다. 영조는 홍인한과 다른 신하들을 십상시에 비유하면서 욕했고, 곧바로 대리청정의 절차를 밟습니다. 세손이 형식적인 사양을 하자 이렇게 말하면서요. "너의 상소를 살펴보았다. 아! 묻노니, 나의 손자는 내 나이를 아는가? 이제 83세가 다 되어 간다. 아! 예로부터 드물다는 나이에서도 이제 10여 년을 더하게 되었는데, (중략) 전생에 먹은 바가 옛날 제갈양이 나보다 나았는지를 모르겠다. (제갈량보다 덜 먹을 정도로 고생하고 있다는 얘기죠) 아! 할아비는 손자를 의지하고 손자는 할아비에게 의지하는데, 너는 어찌 이렇게 하여 네 할아비를 생각하지 않는가?" 세손은 네 차례나 상소를 올리며 사양하지만, 그 때마다 영조는 끝없는 사랑과 신뢰를 보여줍니다. 그렇게 세손이 대리청정을 하게 되고 석 달 후 영조가 죽습니다. 1776년, 그의 나이 83세, 세손 나이 25세였습니다. 정말 오래오래 살았네요. 아들을 죽인 건 뭐 나름 개인사라고 하더라도 그의 말년은 좋게 평가하긴 힘듭니다. 그의 업적은 젊을 때에 많고 탕평을 했어도 결국 노론 일당정치가 됐으며 척신정치까지 만들었으니까요. 세손에게도 결코 좋은 영향은 아니었을 겁니다. 조금이라도 더 젊었을 때 물려줬어야죠. 하지만 세손에 대한 신뢰만큼은 죽기 직전까지도 굳건했고, 이런저런 약점을 가지고서도 세손이 왕이 될 수 있었죠. 그리고 큰 비극이었다 해도 세손을 선택한 건 옳은 선택이기도 했구요. ---------------------------------------------------------- 자... 이렇게 세손이 왕위에 오르니 정조입니다. '나는 사도세자의 아들이다' 이런 얘기를 해야겠지만, 이 외척 얘기부터 끝내고 다음편부터 하도록 하죠. 시간이 지나면서 위 사건이 다시 도마에 오릅니다. 정조가 왕위에 오르자마자 정후겸에 대한 탄핵이 시작되죠. 정조는 정후겸을 간단히 벌 주는 걸로 끝내라 했지만, 이건 어디까지나 시작에 불과했습니다. 조선왕이 이걸로 끝내라는 건 끝내라는 게 아닙니다. 자기는 거절할테니 계속 탄핵을 하라는 거였고, 그렇게 벌을 더 크게 주는 식이었죠. 근데 더 탄핵이 없자 삼사의 관원들을 쫓아내면서 시동을 걸었고, 곧 홍인한에 대한 공격이 시작됩니다. 그리고 홍봉한에게까지 번지죠. 그 죄목은 세손의 계승을 막았다는 것입니다. 세손은 시간이 지날수록 홍씨를 멀리하게 됩니다. 아비를 지켜준다 해놓고 아비가 죽는 데 가담한 게 그들이니까요. 그 때문에 세손을 협박했고, 더 나아가서 폐세손을 노렸다는 것이죠. 세자에겐 동생이 없었지만 세손에겐 동생이 셋이나 있었으니까요. 홍씨와 김씨의 싸움이 한창이던 47년 영조가 왕손을 왕위에 올리려 한다는 음모를 접하고 색출에 나섰고, 왕손 이인과 이진을 유배하고 여러 신하들을 내쫓았던 적이 있습니다. 이 때 홍봉한도 이를 후원했다는 혐의를 받고 쫓겨났었죠. 홍봉한이 이미 이런 혐의가 있고 홍인한 역시 정후겸과 그걸 노렸다는 겁니다. 근데 그게 안 되자 일단 대리라도 막으려 했다는 거였죠. 영조의 대리청정 명을 반대하면서 도움을 청한 세손을 무시했고, 정후겸과 화완옹주 역시 거절하라면서 세손을 압박했구요. 이들이 상소를 올리는 걸 막자 어떻게든 상소를 올리려 했고, 직접 상소를 올리기는 위험하니 서명선에게 부탁해서 올린 거였죠. 이걸 주도한 것이 바로 홍국영이었습니다. 홍인한 편을 심문하는 과정에서 홍국영을 해치려 했다는 증언이 나왔고 이것이 그들의 죄에 추가됩니다. +) 이게 곧 반역죄가 될 정도로 홍국영의 역할이 컸다는 것이죠. 신하들의 계속되는 주장과 정조의 형식적인 거절 끝에 홍인한과 정후겸은 사약을 받습니다. 화완옹주는 죽진 않았지만 옹주 자리에서 쫓겨났고, 후에도 정씨의 아내, 정처로 불립니다. 그들이 죽자 다음 목표는 홍봉한이었습니다. 청명당의 정이환이 탄핵을 시작했죠. 뒤주를 갖고 온 죄, 인삼을 쓰지 않은 죄 (위에서 김귀주가 말한), 역시 김귀주가 말한 세손을 억압한 죄였습니다. 이른바 여시여시如是如是, 내 말을 듣지 않으면 이러저러할 것이다고 한 죄입니다. 하지만 정조는 홍봉한에게까지 번지는 걸 막습니다. 뒤주의 죄는 영조의 말을 빌려서 반박했죠. 사도세자의 추숭을 말하는 건 자기에게도 반역이고 너(정조)에게도 충성이 아니라는 것 말이죠. 영조가 한 건 어쩔 수 없는 것이었고 홍봉한이 한 것 역시 충성이었다구요. 그리고 여시여시의 말은 망발이지만 후환을 염려해서 한 거였다는 겁니다.  홍봉한에 대한 탄핵이 계속되지만 정조는 이를 막습니다. 꽤나 큰 이유가 있었습니다. 혜경궁이 이 때 단식을 하고 있었습니다. 자기 아버지를 위해서 말이죠. 거기다 친동생 홍낙임 역시 여기 연루돼 있었구요. +) 홍인한이 죽는 건 딱히 반대 안 했는데 -.-a 작은아버지라 해도 홍봉한과는 이복형제였거든요. 뭐 홍인한에 대한 변명을 해 놓긴 했지만요. 그런 가운데 김씨가 다시 일어납니다. 김귀주로서는 역전의 기회였습니다. 그런데 여기서 반전이 일어나죠. "나의 생각은 이 척리(척신)나 저 척리를 막논하고 조금도 사랑하거나 밉다고 해서 그 사이에 부추기거나 억누르는 일이 없었다. 진실로 죄가 없다면 그와 더불어 부귀를 누릴 것이요, 만일 그가 죄가 있어서 크다면 엄중히 처단할 것이고 작다면 가볍게 감죄할 것이니 이것이 내가 평소에 지켜온 바이다. 홍씨나 김씨는 모두가 이 자전(정순왕후)과 자궁(혜경궁)의 사친(私親)이니 또한 어찌 홍씨를 부추기고 김씨를 억누르겠으며, 김씨를 부추기고 홍씨를 억누르겠는가" "대저 김귀주의 임진년(영조 48년) 상소는 아주 놀라고 두려워할 곳이 있었으니, 곧 그 중에 추숭의 설이다. 봉조하(홍봉한)의 말한 것이 옳다는 것이 아니고, 김귀주의 상소한 또한 그르다는 것이 아니다." 추숭, 어마어마한 말이 나왔군요. 정조는 말을 계속 이어갑니다. 상소의 내용이 틀리진 않았지만 오히려 그게 문제였다는 것이죠. 저건 홍봉한과 사적으로 얘기한 것, 그리고 그걸 정순왕후에게 사적으로 얘기한 것일 뿐이었다는 겁니다. 그런데 그걸 그대로 받아적어서 상소에 올렸다는 것이죠. 자기 말을 함부로 옮기는 괘씸한 짓을 저질렀다는 것, 여기에 하나를 더합니다. 위에서 말한 47년에 있던 왕손의 추대 사건, 그것이 김귀주가 정후겸과 짜고 홍봉한을 내쫓기 위해 저지른 짓이었다는 겁니다. +) 정후겸은 김귀주와 손잡았다가 몰락하자 홍인한과 손 잡았다는 얘기가 되겠죠. "자궁께서 이미 홍인한에게 은혜를 끊었으니 자전께서도 또한 어찌 김귀주에게 은혜를 끊지 않았겠는가?" 이렇게 김귀주는 또 한번 쫓겨납니다. 그리고 돌아오지 못 하죠. 10년 후 김귀주가 죽자 그의 죄를 없애고 직책을 돌려줍니다. 이렇게 김귀주에게 또 한 번 패배를 안기면서 홍봉한은 직접 위로하면서 은전도 주는 등 죄가 없게 했고, 홍낙임 역시 친국하면서 무죄를 인증해 줍니다. 자아... 머리가 아파지는 부분입니다. 너무 길어졌으니 일단 여기서 끊을게요.
