 둘이어야만 살아갈 수 있는 공간과 혼자여야만 살아갈 수 있는 공간이 있다면 당신은 어느 쪽을 선택할 건가요? 이 영화는 당돌합니다. 배경이나 지식과 같은 관객을 위한 설명은 일체 하지 않고 그저 보여줄 뿐입니다. 아내와 이혼을 한 주인공은 이성과 함께 하는 호텔에 새로 들어오게 됩니다. 호텔에서는 솔로인 사람들을 위해 교육을 하는데 항상 사람들에게 혼자가 아니라 항상 둘이어야만 한다고 교육합니다. 솔로인 남성은 음식을 먹다 기도에 들어갔는데 아무도 도와주지 않아 사망하고 솔로인 여성은 아무렇지 않게 강간을 당합니다. 즉 항상 둘이어야만 모든 것이 완벽하다고 생각하는거죠. 교육으로만 그치는 것이 아니라 45일간 커플이 되지 못한 사람들에게는 가혹한 형벌이 기다리고 있죠. 동물이 되는겁니다. 인간으로써의 삶을 마감하게 되는거죠. 그렇기 때문에 이 곳의 사람들은 항상 어딘가 불안하고 초조합니다. 따라서 사람들은 누군가와의 공통점을 조작하기도 하고 쉽게 사랑을 말합니다. 그러한 행동을 통해 감독은 우리가 말하는 사랑이란 사실 별 것이 아님을 단적으로 드러내줍니다.이런 사람들의 모습을 단적으로 보여주는 장면이 성교 장면입니다. 호텔 안의 사람들은 아무렇지 않게 사랑을 이야기하고 아무런 감정이 없이 '성교'를 합니다. 마치 동물의 교미처럼요. (감정의 교환이나 로맨틱한 느낌은 절대로 들지 않습니다. 메마른, 정말 '교미'라는 이름이 어울리는 행위입니다) 설령 어제 교미를 했던 사람이 오늘 죽더라도 아무렇지 않게 다시 새로운 사람과의 사랑을 말하죠. 사랑을 찾아서 호텔 안에 들어갔던 주인공은 점차 이러한 사람들의 행태에 환멸과 공포를 느낍니다. 억지로 사람들과 함께 해야만 하는 그러한 공간이 주는 공포를 못 이긴겁니다. 그래서 숲 속으로 도망칩니다. 도망친 숲은 호텔과는 다르게 철저하게 혼자여야만 하는 곳입니다. 혼자 밥 먹고 혼자 모든 것을 해야만 하는 음악을 듣고 춤을 추는 행위 역시 혼자 해야만 하는, 철저하게 호텔의 대칭점에 존재하는 공간이죠. 하지만 아이러니한 건 철저히 혼자여야만 하는 이 공간에서 주인공은 진짜 '사랑'의 감정을 깨닫게 된다는 겁니다. '사랑'을 해야 하는 공간에서는 '분리'를 꿈꾸고 '분리'해야 하는 공간에서는 '사랑'을 꿈꾸는 이러한 이율배반적 행동을 통해 감독은 사람의 감정이란 무엇으로도 막을 수 없음을 적나라하게 보여줍니다. 이 영화는 제게 굉장히 무서운 영화기도 했습니다. 영화 안에서 상황과 인물의 감정은 끊임없이 변합니다. 하지만 영화는 그러한 변화에 대해서 친절하게 설명하지 않습니다. 다만 나레이션으로 그저 담담히 들려줄 뿐입니다. 하지만 그러한 담담한 나레이션이, 감정의 고저가 느껴지지 않는 모습이 굉장한 공포를 자아냅니다. 시종일관 무거웠던 배경음악도 그렇구요. 항상 공통점을 찾아 헤메이는, 누군가와 같아야만 하는. 혹은 누군가와 완전히 달라야만 하는, 사람들의 모습을 보면서 굉장히.. 슬프면서 무서운 감정이었습니다. 근데 웃긴 건 갈수록 그 무서운 감정이 묘한 로맨틱함? 묘한 안정감으로 변해가는 걸 느끼면서 스스로 굉장히 어이 없으면서 웃겼던 기억이네요. 이 영화에서 콜린 파렐을 처음 봤을 땐 그녀에서의 호아킨 피닉스인가? 싶었는데 콜린 파렐이라길래 ??? 싶었던 마음이 있네요. 폰 부스에서 처음 봤을 땐 이렇게 중후한 느낌의 배우가 아니었는데?... 절대 대중적이거나, 관객이 많이 들만한 영화는 아니긴 합니다만 새로운 감정, 그리고 잠들어있던 자신을 바라볼 수 있게 하는 영화라고 생각합니다. 기묘한 느낌을 주는 영화를 원하신다면, 그런 분들에게 추천! 같이하면 하는대로, 혼자라면 혼자대로 외로운 우리의 기묘하고 때론 로맨틱한 자화상 ★★☆ (5별 만점) Warning: Use of undefined constant no - assumed 'no' (this will throw an Error in a future version of PHP) in /home/redtea/html/a_skin/bbsd/view.php on line 133 Warning: Use of undefined constant no - assumed 'no' (this will throw an Error in a future version of PHP) in /home/redtea/html/a_skin/bbsd/view.php on line 146 Warning: Use of undefined constant vote - assumed 'vote' (this will throw an Error in a future version of PHP) in /home/redtea/html/a_skin/bbsd/view.php on line 161 0 이 게시판에 등록된 레이드님의 최근 게시물 |
